11. how could we all agree that surely the nazis were wrong if you are saying we cannot use an objective moral law to decide it was wrong. You CANNOT object to murder ,slavery, etc without having a standard of good to compare it to. That makes no sense. You cannot say something is wrong or right without comparing it to a standard which dictates what is wrong or right. Its the same with truth. In a debate all people are doing is trying to prove that what they say is closer to the objective standard of truth than the other person,Melkor, on subjective vs. objective Morality:
As a thought experiment, suppose that I could objectively prove that there is no god and and no objective morality. Would you then say that anyone is free to do what they want since there is no objective right or wrong? Surely you would still object to murder, slavery and so on. I believe that is what most humans would agree with - there, we just have established a form of morality.
Yes, that would mean if everyone agreed with Nazis that there would be a "corrupted morality". And sure, it would be reassuring to know that's not the case, that there's something objective to look upon. But wishing something to be true doesn't make it true.
Again, how would you discern that something would be a corrupted morality if you have no standard to compare it to.
