Skipping the first stages of a traditional match to begin in the Feudal Age, Red Bull Wololo IV dives straight into the action to offer thrilling spectacle and incredible competitive strategy.

The global tournament is played across two parts, beginning with open qualifiers that allow anyone to win a place at the Main Event, where they’ll face the top players from Red Bull Wololo III: Gan ‘Mr_Yo’ Yangfan, Ørjan ‘TheViper’ Larsen, Hamzah ‘Hera’ El-Baher, Kai ‘Liereyy’ Kallinger, Darko ‘DauT’ Dautovic, Hoang ‘ACCM’ Huy, Dmitriy ‘Vinchester’ Smirnov and Ville ‘Villese’ Jämsä.

  • Qualifier 1: Saturday, May 29 - Sunday, May 30
  • Qualifier 2: Saturday, June 5 - Sunday, June 6
• Main Event
  • Finals Group Stage: Saturday, June 19 - Sunday, June 20
  • Finals Group Stage: Friday, June 25
  • Playoffs: Saturday, June 26
  • Final: Sunday, June 27

Players in the qualifiers will be able to earn prizes based on their results, and if they make it to the main event they can earn a share of the $30,000 prize pool!

I hope they keep the observer. Especially in the last days the camera work in many aspects already was better than what the casters usually do, and given how much room for improvement there still was with a bit more practice it should be really good.

How was the camera work better than what the casters do?

The most important thing in any commentary is consistency in what is being shown and what is being said. I would prefer this consistency even if that means missing something in the game on a couple of occasions. Because the lack of consistency is just plain annoying!

I think our casters are great and we should trust them to cover the game well enough rather than bringing in a third observer. NAC/HC/KoTD were all great without any observer.

 

In the same way that Deathmatch is a complement to RM.

Yup. Bad first impression as would be expected from having an SC2 observer with little AoE2 familiarity or time to build rapport with the casters. Do not understand why people who dislike the idea of observer don't take this context into account.

yea, even if you put an experienced aoe caster in his spot for the first time i wouldnt expect it to be great in the first event either. mapu did great and i expect him to improve even more.

definitely excited about more redbull events.

 

I hope they ditch the horrible observers thing, EW is AMAZING, but I couldnt enjoy it all and stopped watching RBW3 because of it.

Out with the boring dark age and in with the fun EW, this time without bad ideas like observers.

 

@robo is it possible to ensure the proper check-in process this time? Check-in lasts 1h as intended and in the end of the 1h check-in highest 32/64/128 get seeded into the bracket, So that we don't repeat the scenario of check-in taking 8 minutes in which half the experts don't make it into the qualifier?

This was already fixed for Q2 last time and the rules say the same this time. Why would you believe that it suddenly doesn't work anymore?

I would love to see Red Bull sponsor something with more serious settings. Their maps are great tho

you mean like 1 v 1 Arabia RM games? Yea, those are very serious settings. Rarely get to see those games anymore. Redbull can revive it.

@fleece316 since beginning of 2020 we had 4 big 1v1 open signup tournaments with standard settings. In the same timespan we had 3 Red Bull tournaments and the 4 is coming right up. So I dont really get what you want to point at. But I guess you point at nothing and thought your post would just look smart and funny.

AOE is a game of variety. the standard settings like 1 v 1 arabia RM can go drown in a blackhole for all i care. WE have had too much of pigeonholing in one set of settings.

Very lucky bracket for Miguel especially dratek kicked Capoch out and of course Sitaux made his way by beating favorites. I feel like Nili might be feeling very bummed right now, after seeing Miguel vs Sitaux matchup. It was a perfect draft for his seed and he could really make it to first big 1v1 RM tournament.

In next qualifier, Tatoh, Vivi, theMax, Nicov, Barles, slam and Capoch... I don't think he can get such a lucky bracket, but who knows..
