Re: New Expansion (updated 12 Feb: Info added)

1. Question: Why do you post even here? I mean you have the option to use the patch or not (if is released). Nobody is forcing you to do anything. Some people are still playing AoK or 1.0 patch, but is their time to use and in the same way is Cysion's time and effort that he puts in this project. What right do you have to insult him that he has to much time? What right do you have to judge the usefulness of this expansion before is release or to scream out your negative opinion which is by the way, if you did not realized not helping at all nor constructive, here? You have the right to choose to play it or not to play it. But this is not the place where you share your negativity or to insult someone who sacrifices a lot for this community.
2. Question: How is a new patch not more refreshing than a game that was played 15 years continuously? We are not speaking about a new game, is an expansion. (Almost) everything will not changed, only new possibilities are added (like new civs/techs and by making OP things not so OP).
Look guys is like a new product of Apple. I personally think iPads are totally gay (if compared is usefulness to the price), but many people buy it and are happy with it. The same goes for this expansion. Maybe it will be successful and maybe not. People will maybe play it, maybe not. I see the fear of communities splitting, but we have Game Ranger and Voobly, for example, as our platform. These two clients are splitting the community in a way, but I think most of us are happy with 2 clients. Game Ranger has is own strength and so does Voobly. From my knowledge of this project, I can say there is no problem with having AoC or AoF on your computer, AoF is just in a separate folder of your AoC and you can play both (without installing/uninstalling). Isn't that good enough? Doesn't that add more variation in your game experience? As I said before the individuals will choose what's good and what is not. HunabKu, don't think that others are stupid to judge AoF and don't think that you need to open the eyes of others. They will do it by themselves.

CowboyIzBosne said:No I don't agree. I completely DISagree. I believe the whole great thing about AoC, the whole reason why we all still play it 15 years later and every game is still fresh and exciting, is that different units are all useful in different scenarios. You really need to think of real time strategy in this game, unlike a lot of other so called RTS. Not all units are equal... GOOD THING. Not all civs are equal... GOOD THING. Team bonuses, random civs, random maps... GOOD THINGS.
If you don't like huns drush+CA then THE ANSWER FOR YOU is VERY SIMPLE...:
1. Don't play arabia
2. Don't play huns
OMG WAS THAT HARD? LOL..... Wow!
Mangudai is overpowered? What are you playing MICHI WITHOUT SEIGE ONAGERS OR SOMETHING???? LOL.... Mangudai army is very slow and expensive to produce! Mongols is also quite weak in other aspects! I don't think mangudai is overpowered AT ALL. Civs like koreans, goths, saracean, etc completely GG them.
The whole point of the game is to pick what strategy is best for your civs vs the other civs, given the randomness of the maps, team bonuses, etc. I think it's balanced very well considering. There is no strategy that is guaranteed to win, ever, unless you're playing 1v1 huns war maybe. Just because the amount of variation in 1v1 civ war is small, does not mean that the game needs to be changed. It simply means you need to hone your skills more or play different maps/games rather than blame the game for your sucking.
Maybe 1.0c was useful, I can't comment because I didn't play before 1.0c. It's been like 10 years since then and I doubt that everyone wants to relearn all the units/strategies/new civs, etc just because someone with too much time on their hands decided to make an unnecessary patch. Maybe it's a good learning for Cysion, but beyond a small "coolness" factor, I will be sticking with the real game, not someone's fake interpretation of it. This patch will only fragment the small community more and cause negative things.
IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT. AoC is going strong for 15 years with no need for a fake "expansion".
P.S. About BUGS... I know there are some and you know what? They never really affected the game enough to be a real problem! So who cares? Fixing rare bugs that don't harm anyone for the last 15 years is NOT IMPORTANT... it's totally TRIVIAL.
Hear hear!
+1
When I took my time to reflect about this "expansion" I came to the same conclusions. Well said good sir.
AoC is very very balanced right now, we don't need a change. Mark my words that this little egoistical (considering people have to ask for Cysion's permission like lapdogs what they are allowed to stream) project will only make the game imbalanced.
