but they already got points for winning whatever they won to get the invite, I don't see why they should double dip on that past performance because a tourney host chooses to use it for invitesso they've "earned" their invite.
i was thinking the same tbhbut they already got points for winning whatever they won to get the invite, I don't see why they should double dip on that past performance because a tourney host chooses to use it for invites
I do agree HC is an exception though due to the random seed, normally an invited player benefits points-wise from a higher expected chance of winning round 1 due to seeding which compensates for lack of qualifier points.
And everybody else had the chance to earn points in those events as well, but they didn't. It's not the player's fault they get invited, so why should they get so heavily punished for it? And it's not like in 99% of the cases they'd make it through the qualifier anyway. Also I suggested that they'd get demoted to a lower group, so they'd still earn less than a player who qualified but then goes out.but they already got points for winning whatever they won to get the invite, I don't see why they should double dip on that past performance because a tourney host chooses to use it for invites
If that is such a heavy punishment and 99% make it through the qualifier anyway, would it be worth declining the invite to try to qualify so you also get the ATP points? And everybody else had the chance to earn points in those events as well, but they didn't. Obviously depends on if you are available at that time, but I think it would help some players a lot, as you'll also practice the maps and settings. If that is such a heavy punishment and 99% make it through the qualifier anyway, would it be worth declining the invite to try to qualify so you also get the ATP points?
