Food resources are defined as gaia, not one player or the others.
Until the developers change that there's nothing to discuss.
I beg to differ!
If I remember correctly, the exact place where sheep and boars will spawn is defined through minimum/maximum distance to each player's TC. Which clearly shows that developers want each player to have a set combination of standard resources...But you're a friggin great player so I'm pretty sure you knew that already lol
Rare but can be huge! Remember when MbL tried to lame as mongols in a tournament and didn't find his own boar? Ouch.I think the biggest issue with laming is how luck based it is. There is no skill as the player sending the scout forward in hope to find the sheep or boar that by chance spawned in front of the enemies base. It takes some skill to lure a boar back to your base and manage your economy all at the same time, but it's not hard unless the enemy scout is getting involved.
There is a risk to it though, you may not find anything, which means you may end up having messed up your own dark age. That's more rare though, because if you don't find anything quite fast you can always circle back and you should be finding your own resources in time unless the opponent went to lame as well.
A bad gold or wood is something you most of the time can work with by making a solid game plan to compensate its weakness'. 4 sheep and a boar disappearing within the first minute and a half is something that is harder to deal with, even though you can take precausion by scouting the front of your map only for the start, granted that still doesn't mean you're going to be safe from getting lamed.
Laming is okay in my opinion, the game is about beating your opponents, and laming can give you a big advantage, but I do understand that people can get frustrated if they're just playing casually and trying to have a nice game.
Training to lame so you can lame in tournament lol ? I can understand the 17+ who posted they steal ressources to improve, learn how to do it properly and gain experience. But the experts ? After 10-20k games, you don't need to practice laming every game comon 11, is just try hard for me, maybe even not fairplay. That argument of training laming in rated game so you know to do it in tournament, is just invalid. Since u talk irl, its like u play football match between ur friends or random guy in the city-street stadium and u do a lot of tricky foul or attack with ur body, play 300 % like the score of the game will give u anything, its just sux and no fun, and in reality i had this exemple in past, and the one who was doing it we benched him and skirted him as much as we can so he doesnt play with us, on others hand, trying hard playing phisyc, with body, try hard on real match / tournament, is ok.
So yeah rated game and tournament are two differents thing, and really u dont need to send ur scout minute 1 to lame everygame, to be able to do it in tournament games, especially if you are a supposed expert.
edit: when i say u, i dont mean u, i mean guys like mbl like some already named
Already in aoc tournament, if i know my opponent isnt lamer i wont lame him, kinda same as JorDan_23 always did, didnt stole, and even in tournament. So in random casual rated game, with random civ, i still cant find an excuse or reason to lame and try hard.Only just came back here, but I guess pro footballers such as Ronaldo and Messi only take freekicks in games because why practice something in training when you have done it so many times before?
There is a difference. Simulation/diving in football is considered cheating, it breaks the rules. Laming is allowed in AoC.Already in aoc tournament, if i know my opponent isnt lamer i wont lame him, kinda same as JorDan_23 always did, didnt stole, and even in tournament. Do u think ronaldo or neymar would pretend/simulate to get a penalty in non official match ? Already some footballer never used thoses silly trick of simulating in order to receive penalty and stuff in final of big tourney, so in non official match comon.

what the ****? lulFast lamers were also accused of cheating in the past, and got banned from tourneys 11
I never said I support laming. I just said it's fair to do it unless there are rules against it (in a tournament). Both players have the same opportunity. If you want to play the gentleman, you can do it, but I don't think laming boar is much different from laming sheep (which your opponent didn't find in time) and never heard anyone complaining about it.Seems Majority that support stealing/lame are new to aoc, in past u lame u was called coward, tryhard etc and this no matter who u was, Chris feage or no matter. And theses guys was doing it after finding most of their rest not before. i can even remember tournaments that didn’t allow lame, all the TEL series. Anyway, I understand ur view of it, won’t change my opinion and players should take exemple of players like Jordan or viper
Resources closer to each player TC are defined as their resources, while resources closer to the middle are the ones that should be contested / fought for, so there shouldn't even be laming of boars / sheeps at all
