What a great and interesting match ups. However, seriously calling it is "Who's no.2" is a bit unfair to Liereyy, who is supposed to be no.2 for a long time even though his recent performance in tournaments is not that phenomenal. #1 or #2 issue depend on the overall performance not just by a single event. I feel max may also be listed here (I know it's impossible to invite too many players).

On the other hand, this event will catch a lot of attentions together with debates. No matter who won this except Liereyy, he cannot be "officially" accepted/granted as "no. 2".

Regardless of if Liereyy finishes 2nd (which I think he will!), this also enables a ranking of 3rd to 5th (even if other players can contend for that spot for sure).

How is this unfair? Even though Liereyy is probably your best bet for second place, he still needs to show it. The fact you mention that he's supposed to be nr. 2 pretty much indicates that you don't think he's shown it so far either. As I mentioned in this post, he hasn't done much better than TaToH and MbL in the top tournaments.
I agree with you though that this tournament doesn't determine who is the definitive number 2, but it will hopefully give a good indication of who has the best claim to it.

TheMax is definitely knocking on the door of the top 5, but he needs a few more 1v1 tournament performances to cement his status. However, he's performed well in most of the events he's participated in and he would have made for a fun wildcard entry here.

It's hard to include too many players even I think you deserve a spot to fight. However, there should be more small tournaments and show matches, good performances (and beating those who are "above" you) guarantee your position.

Standard rated games are different from tournaments, take Yo and Vivi (no offense to each) for example, one is underperforming in rated games and almost gets better achievement in tournament, the other one did the opposite.

Man this is a format that has been lacking for quite some time! Of course its sad that Hera and Max ( as examples) cant participate, gotta make the cut somewhere. A short and compact event that still is super competetive really excites me after all the week/month long tournaments. Great Work Masmorsa! ( and robo ofc )

I have always missed round robin tournaments in AoE. Sure they get boring after a while, like in high level (also known as super tournaments) chess events, when you see same 10 guys playing each other on monthy basis, but it's the fairest format to have IMO.
So I am really looking forward to it. Also I like the setting with the home maps and such.

Hey man, I understand your frustration, especially because you have improved so much lately.

But in order to keep this highly competitive and to have it finished within a weekend, 4 players is the absolute maximum we could go for.

I have absolutely no doubt the likes of you, Max, Daut and others I might be forgetting, would be extremely competitive especially in a tournament with these settings. But we had to make the cut somewhere...

And by the way this is not the last time I'll be sponsoring such a tournament!

So please keep grinding my man and soon enough you might be left out of these tournaments again...because you'll be the clear number 1!

As far as I know Liereyy never lost competetive series against those 3( excluding special tournament like MSC where u had to practise to find solutions with the new balance and maps ) so this will be just for pure entertainment because LARRY is number 2 anyway .

I love everything about this, except perhaps the no-lame rule; laming is a skill and I feel it should be allowed. I guess you could ban laming golds and so on but not stealing boar/sheep. But in every other regard, this is perfect: the correct number of players, the correct set of players, the correct settings, and the correct way to determine #2.

Because they are all liereyy fanboys, the disrespct for the chosen one Mr.Yo is insane !

If we add TheMax as the fanboys want, we could also add Villese who played better in the MSC than him, we could add Hera who beat villese there, we could add Nicov,DauT too who had some great performances recently, how about BacT as well ? lets make this 10 people to please every fanboy.

90% of the community put these 4 guys in their top5 together with TheViper, that's why this tournament is happening, for all the other contenders this just isn't your time here because nobody apart from a couple fanboys think you could compete with these guys.

People think a rusty liereyy will still easily finish #2 meanwhile mbl,yo,tatoh play 5-10 games a day that's pretty wild to say. I would personally say he will finish last unless he suddenly becomes decently active again. If he is as arrogant to not bother pracitcing don't be suprised to see a lackluster performance.
