Hey easy boys Im the only one attacking the devs every time that i can, because of several reasons, they are not the only guilty here, to be fair steam versions sucks because of the skylab team, but aoe DE is a FE guilt, we had big expectations for this game, i remember i was in the insider and gave them a big explanation of what things needed to be fixed before releasing, such as change all resource generation for all maps, because they were created for 50 pop games, so resources were scarce every time, also i told them about to fix balance drush into axeman transition, which is stronger than in aoe 2, which could have been fixed by increase villager HP or armor so they wouldn't die instantly vs slingers or axeman, they should have added garrison system to the game because it is an upgrade for the engine, but no they told they wanted to release the game like it used to be, so there were no gates not patrolling system, no garrison, maps run out of resources very quickly and you can lose all ur villagers econ and buildings vs 5 early axeman, balance was so poor for this game, a definitive version should be an upgrade for the engine, a balance patch to make it fair, and yeah a graphical upgrade but the optimizations was so bad for this game, i am sure they didn't optimize it but instead sent it to saturno's nvidia super computer to do their job, which ended with a terrible optimization or in other words, you need a gaming rig for a non 3D game, and ofc we have to blame microsoft and their wrong policy to make it only playable through windows store, which actually lacks of players, mod support, publicy etc.
My biggest concern is about AoE 2 DE, which should have been released within this year or maybe starting the next one, we can't allow this new version running with so many OP civs and units, because im thinking in newcomers and when they get trushed or fully converted by unbalanced monk civs, they are just going to run away, there are faster and better players than viper or lierey, the problem is that they have never met aoe series, the intention is to bring the whole aoe series into Esports, so the balancing job should be ready before releasing it, but they work so slow, its been two years and they have only nerfed from burmeses arambai and their eles armor, but non the monk stuff, the wood bonus and the infantry bonus, it can't have so many bonus, also vietnamese and khmers shouldn't have artillery, aok civs are behind every single RoR and Ak civs, but they seem to not care, at this point the expansions sold very well so what about making the other civs more pickables, then everybody can have fun with random civs.
Towers were fine for AoC because whenever you were facing a superior player, the towers were the only choice to close the gap between different skills, when we never thought that aoe 2 would have more civs or microsoft support, we didn't cry because we were assimilating the death of the game, also towers in aoc had their weakness hitting castle or imperial age, having said that, towers really needed a nerf, but there are other stuff such as random time conversion for monks, because monks+macros its a broken thing and the small boost for older civs and few nerfs for newer civs, that's all we need.
About water balance i think the dark age transport was enough to balance water for those who going galleys wasn't an option, fire galleys broke the balance and demo rafts, for example playing water nomad +demo rafts is a very unpleasant experience 11, anyway we can't remove those unitsnow so the least they can do is nerfing those a little, just like they latest nerf for fire galleys, but demo rafts need something like 35 attack but a high bonus vs ships, so it doesn't blow ur early villagers xd.
