Nations Cup 2020 Update

Im confused. Last years record was around 11.5k and we broke 10k that one time (i think?)? This year every day we were above 10k. Every day. With a peak of sth like 13.5k.
How is that not higher numbers, please enlighten me.

My bad, didn't know about those figures, was just speaking from two series I saw (first one of the day only, due to timezone).

But I was expecting much more with the release of DE actually & the huge playerbase in singleplayer, hence the "not really". A 30% hike doesn't seem that big to me. But any growth & new players is good to take, so can't complain obviously!

Never mind the fact that it stayed high even during weekdays (everytime I opened the stream it was 9k+), not just for weekends.

I haven't watched much, but it sometimes was 4-5k, but most times 8-11k.
But imagine 4-5k viewers during a break some years ago. 5 years ago 1k viewers for AoE streams were huge.

@robo Any news regarding a sign-up start? Not a date, but rather whether it's February, March or summer?

I still remember 3k was an AoE record in NAC, then another record in NAC 2 (10k). Now the highest number is 18k in HC2 held by T90.

I'm quite positive that NAC3 can reach a new viewer record. HC2 had a peak in the Ro8 of ~10.8k and during Finals ~17.6k. With NAC3 already having ~15k during the group stage i think breaking the 20k might be possible!

I think NAC3 can get 18k, maybe even 20k if it is an exciting Hera - TheViper final. Imagine if the final is as awesome as the KOTD1 final between Liereyy and TheViper. OhBoi

I think the peak number was affected by a host/raid, thats what nili said himself and even showed the statistics for it. ”Real” peak was more like 13-14k what the viewer numbers were 30 seconda after the raid.

Yeah it makes sense for it to start that late, not only because of the Chinese New Year, but also to see if AoE2DE is viable to host on or if the new civs can be included with a new version of WK.

Yeah... DE is not the be all, End all. Actually, I played DE for a few weeks and left. I Dislike their multiplayer set up. I really want to chose the map I play in, and I like to chat with old friends in the lobby before a game starts.

DE Is so...STEAM.

If Voobly dies I will prob just play more SC 2 or Path of Exile.

Yeah this too me is the real concern with competitive play. Think I heard Mbl mention it on his stream. New pro players are not exactly breaking into the scene...its the same players who, btw, are getting older... in a few years RL events and responsibilities will push em away from the game....and then what?

In response to this, I feel that tournament organizers should try to compensate players from the lowest to highest seed. In this sense, I like what t90 is doing with HC3. More money for they players equals more incentive to play and improve their gameplay.

HD brought in plenty of top players who over time started moving up the Voobly ladder. Give DE a bit of time.
