Yeah, because the only thing we all play is BF TG, where this macro isn't as extremely OP (with Aztec 95 monks that is unstoppable, but nvm).

And the only game which i used it is BF TG. And come on, you really think 95 aztecs monks are unstoppable? if an aztec have spend 9500 gold on monks, i don't see how you can't spend 2000 gold for Faith and Heresy and rape him.

No matter if they may have meatshield or not, they aren't invinsible. they will be just as strong as celt with SO and their meatshield.

And i am not defending myself because i am not longer using it and i don't care if you think i am cheater or a nigga or a vampire or whatever. Everyone used to hate me from the start because they hate tower so i am used to it.

I am just trying telling you it isn't a cheat, at least not in a BF TG. and that it isn't that OP.
And i never did more than 15 monks, i can still play with them without any macro.

I've reached that conclusion too. It's very unfortunate, but it appears to be a problem that cannot ever be fixed. there appear to be just 3 solutions

Make macro feature of game+ completely rework of how monks function (IMO best solution) -> no way this will ever be accepted by the entire community. If anything it splits up the community more, and you would end up having players play older patches.

Remove the ability to control+deselect monks from a group -> Even if possible, this punishes those who micro monks this way

Not change anything, stick with the current ways of detecting macro cheaters -> cheaters get away with cheating and can (already) very easily bypass voobly cheat detection.

Last thing i will say here.

1. Macro's are a cheat. Obviously. They do not belong to the game.

2. the argument that the use of macro's cant be proven and therefore be legalised and be made available to all is total bullshit. If i create a robot for myself that helps my take care of my economy so i can work in micro, should that be made available to all too? No. Just dont do it, if it is detectable or not. Be a fair player, or dont play at all.

3. This specific macro can be solved (well... theoretically) by changing the way multiple conversions work. By decreasing the effectivity of every consecutive ongoing conversion mass conversions will take more time to complete, while single conversions will not change. Like there is a limited divine bandwith available for those monks. The technical problem is it is probably not doable to create this in userpatch.

4. So, conclusion: dont do it or go play somewhere else.

Just a little note that feedback is currently being collected for these macros and a number of solutions are being discussed. Some solutions directly change core monk gameplay, while other solutions are more passive. After a hopefully thorough discussion, the requested changes will be made to UP v1.5 in order to mitigate the issue. Updates for UP v1.5 on Voobly are currently paused to avoid interfering with KotD, but they'll resume soon after.

 

It requires a certain mouse to do the vill deleting trick. Not sure which one. Can't do it with your standard mouse or keyboard. Need a macro.

Is it hard to understand that not everyone wants to buy a $50-$200 mouse to save some actions unfairly? Not sure why Schmolagin thinks it's like playing a computer game without a monitor to go without expensive equipment lol. This slippery slope argument is really unfathomable. "You want to have a game with rules? That's like Fascism!"

Like I said I didn't make any effort to figure out how to do it because it's just an artificial boost to your game IMO. If I want to go that route there's nothing stopping me from stream cheating, doing some fabulous monk "micro" and putting in some program to record an advancing player's score drop to let me know they're up. Oh and using all kinds of bindings so that pressing "g" creates units from any buildings in which they're already queued. I imagine most of these are also unblockable. Cheaters will find a way.

Except for the score drop thing the rest of what you describe is obviously cheating. The villager deletion is nothing more than using a different hotkey, and everyone has a mousewheel, so it's not like you need to buy expensive hardware either. These are not the same thing.

 

Don't be too sure. Melkor and Feanor sometimes look at the others screen -- a clear advantage when you have less need of carto. Love those guys but that's similar to stream cheating if you ask me, a gray area anyway. Stream cheating itself, despite the name, isn't exactly against the game rules or anything. Heck there's nothing stopping someone from listening in to a stream or getting a feed from a buddy spectating.

Is doing 100 actions in 1 second (mouse wheel delete -- equivalent to 6,000 APM) really fine? It is OK and yet the equivalent of looking at the score and realizing someone advanced is "obvious cheating?" Seems to me that any artificial boost to your game that does not involve only yourself is a cheat. The exception being voice chat among allies. Why give this delete trick a free pass? Ofc it's all moot because people will play how they want.

Here's another idea, have a program print on the screen the number of vills the opponent has based on up timings and game time. Or put a post-it note literally on your monitor to do the same thing. Are either of these cheating? I'd say they are not, because they are common sense things that people develop a feel for in the game anyway. But I guess you'd consider only the first to be cheating?

As far as the special equipment thing goes, I suppose you didn't read/register any of those posts where I said, "I literally have no idea how it works but here's a guess."

Looking at a teammates screen is a grey area, as you say. Stream cheating is considered cheating by pretty much anyone. That's why there's a spec delay to avoid it. And no, it doesn't say so in the "game rules". What are you even referring to here?

And yeah, I did read where you said you didn't know how it worked. That's why I explained how it works. It's not that complicated and it's a perfectly fine because it doesn't use any external tools, no special hardware and literally anyone can use it. I seriously don't get why you are so hung up on this. It's not even like it gives you some huge advantage, you are faster when deleting a lot of vills - That's nice, but it's not a situation that's happening super often or where a speedup is super critical.

Can't people like this just be blacklisted? There should be an archive of players who have used this type of ****, since they don't seem to get banned, I guess. Wouldn't it be doable? I mean, even with alternate accounts, it should be fairly simple for Voobly membership holders to track their alternate accounts and pinpoint people who have cheated before, thus, updating the archive.

IDK, I had no idea there were ways to cheat in Age, kind of upsetting to know, hopefully I won't be running into any of these jerks.

why revive such an old topic lol? but i do think the archaic interface limits what players can do with units. (massed monks would be so busted if you allow players to use them to their full potential though, archer units also overkill units a lot of the time. if you want to play a game where you just convert every enemy unit go write your own, chat gpt makes it possible, or do a private game with house rules - monks only)
