Re: [MoA4] Rules & Settings - Questions, Feedback and Discus
Turning AoC into a different genre is not the way to go imo. AoC has lasted this long because of it's nostalgic value and being the same game it was when it came out 16 years ago - both things the community enjoys at some level.
The idea also is a no-go because unlike dota/LoL, there is no entity to enforce it. MS/Voobly would never do such changes, and any random guy/group changing the game every few months would just be ignored.
AoC has enough tools to change the way the game is already via different modes, maps etc, so there is no need to change the game except to possibly balance a few things. (ES already admired to making the civs slightly OP to increase sales)

Not sure why everyone is so up in arms. Swissboy is not trying to make Castle Age start the defacto for new AoC tourneys, he is just trying something different.
I don't really think there is an issue with the castle age start, play it or don't, but don't try to force/guilt swissboy to change settings constantly when he is the one who's been running MoArena series mostly by himself for 2 years now - he can do what he wants.
Any of you are free to copy his outline for MoA3 and then manage a new Arena tourney to your liking.
Not a surprise reaction to new changes given the history of this forum.
The only reason UP was accepted (1) It was made default. (2) It only did graphics, performance enhancements.
Carlos's balance patch was shat on constantly. Noone plays it other than the tournament.
Just curious, do any of you play DOTA at any decent level? How are you living with changing meta every 6 month or so.
