Coustillier counter unit or counter civs?

What are good counters against the shock attack? My idea so far are halbs as counter unit and Aztecs as counter civ. Anyone has some other practical inputs? How can they be coutnered in efficient way?

They are almost uncounterable in castle age, but fall off heavily in imp. If Burgundian player invests heavy resources to get castle up to produce them, as long as you can play defensively and survive you should be better off in the long run, as long as you utilize your eco efficiently.

Just Alt F4 minute 1 worked well for me so far.

I dont know how you want to counter a Unit that has 43 Attack in Castle Age, without Upgrades, then can just runs in circles or run away just to do the same amount of damage again after 30 seconds. And that doesnt even include the Cavalier in Castle Age or the Stable Discount.
And pretty much every other bonus this civ has.

Think they shouldn't be able to recharge. 40+ attack one time only is already super strong.

I think a +25/+35 elite would be far more balanced, and taking 45 to 60 seconds to recharge rather than just 30

don't think they should be able to recharge. Hitting and running with it makes the game sooooo stupid

In principle yes, I would have not introduced that mechanic. However it's already there and it can definitely be balanced around and be interesting. Also take into account this is how cavalry charges usually went in real life (horses do not like trampling people. For some reason running into people fully covered in metal armor apparently hurt them). Being shock cavalry is quite an interesting mechanic, because it deals heavy damage upon charging, but afterwards they have lackluster damage, so the longer the battle goes the worse they perform. And in real life, if you were a knight you had to keep moving, otherwise you're a huge target and swinging your sword around was extremely clumsy. So in my opinion they should deal enough damage to kill unprotected archers and light footmen, but that's it. Maybe have them take damage when using it against pikes?

Maybe it should cost resources to recharge. Any of the army still alive gets the charge bonus for their next attack each time you spend 300 gold (or whatever), sort of like how spies shows the kings over and over in regicide. You can do it multiple times but it costs you each time. You have the weigh the benefits of the charge against the benefit of more gold units.

I think nothing's wrong with the idea making a micro-intensive melee unit, it's just the stats are too good right now

Nerf either speed, charge bonus, recharge time, base attack or multiple of them and they'll be balanced.

I think "doesn't win fights against knights-line with patrol, but wins with intensive micro" is acceptable
