Incidentally, there is an app called AI Studio by Berrys66 that is available for anyone interested in AI scripting with command autocomplete, integrated reference, and more. If you can't start AI Studio on 64-bit Windows after extracting from the download zip, please right-click the included 64-bit fix bat file, run it as admin, and then AI Studio should hopefully start without errors. You can find more information about AI Studio on its forum.

If anyone streams any games with Barbarian or any other AIs or you see a stream with AIs like the DauT 24h stream, please link here!

I did, testing the AI on arena, and 2v2 (Me+AI vs AI+AI) strats since theres a lot of team mate taunts. It actually plays arena quite well, especially fast imp and sling. 1v1ing it in arena though it seems to limit itself to FCing but then going unpractical units like fully Xbows or knights without siege etc. Will probably stream more, it's a good bit of practice when going from HD to voobly, takes a game to adjust to voobly being awful to play on

Thanks, will watch the archives! About the mouse feeling strange (mentioned on stream), if you enable the "Custom Normal Mouse" option from the game room's Game menu -> v1.5 -> Game Mechanics, does that help?

I quick walled my villagers vs a drush and the milita afterwards tried to destroy the house i used to quickwall. However, right before finishing the attack animations the attack stopped, and the militia did not do damage to the house. The other milita were just idling around.

I've also experiences this - it looked like the militia couldn't decide what to do and were rapidly alternating between different instructions, so the drush was stuck doing nothing. This was also after a quickwall from me.

The crossbow/skirm micro can be pretty incredible - I've had a very strong lead and then been absolutely destroyed by a group of them in my base. Its the most 'human' micro from an AI I've seen too. It also reliably makes good decisions regarding unit compositions and is able to punish me for my poor choices in this area even when I'm ahead. I'm surprised that I've not seen it go for a scouts build yet though - it usually goes for 2x Range, occasionally with a drush.

The main weakness seems to be its ability to respond to raids. For example, I can always get a good few villager kills early on with my scouts, especially since it only begins to respond after I start attacking. I don't know if its possible to have it respond earlier to when it sees the units in its LOS, but if so I'd suggest this as maybe something to look into if/when you choose to develop this further.

Thanks. I'll try to fix the drush issue in next update. Scouts are still less common because I couldn't fix their micro before the release. Once I manage to get them work better, I'll make them more common.

I'm wondering if there is any updated version working for wololokingdom 5.8? In wololo 5.8, there are some important changes like: Khmers get Arbalest, and the sling strategy is weakened a lot. Does the barbarian 2.18 AI also work for wololokingdom 5.8? Thanks.

YES , same thing happened yesterday. when Feage played on stream against barbarian AI, the militias kepting turning left and right , didnt know which direction to move to ( also Feage just quickwalled one side while otehr side was open . and the militia could see that it's open from their LOS but they still didnt decide to go around from the open side).

also i think that vills need to have some overriding rule when they do whaterver ( like either quick wall if it's possible to not die , or just run to nearby tc or tower )also when putting down a building and the construction is like more than 75% , not delete that entire building but rather do something else untill it's safe to go back finishing it.

and ofc ty mr @TheMax for all your work.

Hello TheMax, big fan. I have a question regarding the AI's line of sight. Does the AI know where the sheep/boars are or is what it explores really all it sees? It constantly manages to find all of its sheeps and boars then quickly go directly to the enemy's boar. Asking for a friend who keeps losing to the AI (eh..ehm...lol). If the AI doesn't cheat, can you teach us how to explore like the AI, thanks.

Hi, nice that you like Barbarian. On hardest, on top of some resource cheating, Barbarian does cheat location of its sheep and boars. It also may cheat find location of enemy boar, although I probably should reduce the chance of doing that. Hard difficulty doesn't cheat at all, and it's the "fair" difficulty level. Hardest aims to be more challenging by doing some cheating.

They told me i have to try this AI to improve. It is much better than the standard AI, since it plays much like a human. I will be ready for multiplayer if i can beat the AI on hard, they said.

I started with easiest and i lost. No joke. After some tries i start winning sometimes and i am now beating the AI on standard. Next time i will try moderate, i think.

I did noticed some quirks i wanna show. I dont know if it is because the lower difficulty levels
- the AI cant lure boars. He dont use the boars.
- the AI seems blind for towers (offensive and defensive). He just played if there is no towers and looses everything.
- the AI wont always resign. Even at zero population he didn't resign in a game.

All of that doesn’t happen on hard, which is the normal difficulty

It was pretty weird to not see the GG when he was still in dark age with at most one villager and i was in castle age (and up to imperial age). He didnt resign because he had a TC and food to make villagers. In the end his tc went down and he was defeated. I killed 50 units and I didn't lost anything. He just couldnt deal with a korean tower rush and castle drop.

Fine to hear he would have GG on hard.

From my experience with Barbarian a while back it tends to resign, when it has less than half your population (200 vs 90 for example). The only time when that didnt happen, was when it lost units "passively" to tower rushes or similar, where it sometimes would go down to zero pop, even though it was on hard/hardest. Maybe because the opponent has to meet a certain population threshhold themselves, but TheMax surely can clear that up. But in the towerrush instance it almost seems like out of spite 11.

I would also advice against using some sort of trush against the AI as you noticed, it is ill equipped to handle it and thus not really a good form of practice.

Actually i was trying to learn a proper arch rush. I picked random civ and got koreans. So i went for a trush. It is not what i wanna learn, but i felt i had to go for the trush as Koreans 11

That’s not possible as it uses UP features afaik, so it won’t work on HD
