aoe2de is the sugar
What are you talking about? Just because AoE2:HD, AoM:EE, and AoE:DE have had major issues on launch and beyond doesn't mean that AoE2:DE will.
aoe2de is the sugar
Seems this is at least being considered/negociated. So maybe spectator options will be better than voobly as well.the ca team thanks for this great honor <3
regarding de support: noone knows yet, but we do think that our chances are higher than 10% :P
I feel like people here give aoe2DE too much critisism without actually having seen 1 snapshot of the game.. A lot of people are comparing it to the launch of aoeDE or aoe2HD and that's just stupid tbh.
aoe2DE will blow out voobly of the water!
ll these things considered the aoe2DE seems like so much more than a quick cash grab, and like it will be the best actual platform to continue playing aoe2!
I was noting my expectations, and I actually gave good reason for them.
Also, good job on taking my comments out of context, I said if one thing happens, then DE will blow voobly out of the water! I didn't say it would no matter what.

All that remains to be honest is a stable multiplayer and spec options, and aoe2DE will blow out voobly of the water!
I get what you're saying, but HD was in the hands of a whole other developer so really the only track record is aoeDE. I can completely agree that they messed that one up at the start, but they also have shown to care about their product and have been bringing regular updates. If they insert all the good quality of life improvements that came with these updates I think aoe2DE will be in a good spot. I agree however, that they will have to try harder with aoe2DE and knock it out of the park at release.Actually, one of the classic definitions of stupidity goes "stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". The track record is a pretty good indication of their design abilities and corporate culture etc. Equivalently, whenever blizzard releases a new game, everyone knows its going to be a hit and have good multiplayer. Without seeing a snapshot of this game, its a very safe assumption that it will be a half-assed moneygrab (as much as I hope that it isnt the case) that will never be patched. Its their job to prove me wrong and save their own reputation.
Well it may be just me but I'm looking forward to it and dislike to see a forum filled with negativity about the release without any info. Its not like the sober negativity even hurts anyone at this point, since we are all going to buy the game anyway no matter what.

I do know what happened, and as I said I agree they really messed it up and can't pull that off for aoe2DE. I'm just saying that if aoe2DE has all the features that the last 2 updates of aoeDE brought with them it seems like a solid final product.Do you even know what happened to aoe1DE? After like 7 so called "content updates" (the term is completly miss leading, there wasnt any new content, it was just some minor bugfixing) after 2-3 months of the release, for like 9 months NOTHING happened, they totally stopped any kind of interaction, didnt write what was going to happen, if there would ever be real updates or an ELO system. This was probly the worst customer treatment i have ever experienced with a game. Only 1-2 months ago they started doing real updates. In my eyes they aren't any better than potato labs who were responsible for HD.
well.. maybe I'm the slow one, but I'm fascinated by this quote now :P just disregard if you don't care to drag this out any further, but I'm still curious about the exact meaning. I get who and what plays what parts, like you said above. From the context of players complaining about something that will probably be a pretty cool new game, I would assume that it's a 'gifthorse in the mouth' kind of proverb, where the moral is to appreciate something that is nice, without nitpicking about details and poop it.In this case, the aforementioned people are the donkeys and aoe2de is the sugar. I hope it's clearer now.
He is just a microsoft fanboy that cant handle and see that HD was just a made money grab.well.. maybe I'm the slow one, but I'm fascinated by this quote now :P just disregard if you don't care to drag this out any further, but I'm still curious about the exact meaning. But the proverb really sounds more like a 'caste pearls before swine', where the moral is that something nice shouldn't be wasted on those who can't appreciate it (since the donkeys seems unable to appreciate sugar).
In addition to this, there was a period of several months (from about March/April to August/September, if I'm remembering correctly) where the in game chat box had been broken due to a Windows update. There was no support for this issue, an issue that fundamentally broke one of the core pieces of the game. Not only did this bug stop players from talking with each other in multiplayer, but it prevented players even from entering the cheat codes in single player. Watch pretty much any review/discussion about DE, and it will have people mentioning the nostalgia of how they used the cheats years ago. I think it says a lot about Microsoft that they were willing to leave a game they published in a state like this for months.Do you even know what happened to aoe1DE?
