>>> FIx resolution problem.
Starcraft ( original and broodwar ) never had resolution problem, everyone played at 800*600, you can't increase the resolution.
Starcraft 2 I haven't played but I am sure it have free widescreen support in it.
Voobly should realize that no body wants to play unrated games just so they can use widescreen patch.
It is one of the reasons I've only 9 games in voobly but a thousand games in gameranger.
Instead of giving numbered ratings the * fear * of players can be minimized if we segregate them on basis of class rather than number, because if we can segregate people on basis of class they wont' fear that much playing with people of their own class.
Suppose, what if we can ban ratings below 2k.
no ratings for people below 2k or 1.8-1.9k
And the people who can't be rated would be separated into three classes, bronze silver and gold.
the individual ratings wont' be visible but they would be hidden inside the aoc engine.
so bronze can be 1000-1650, then 1650 - 1750. 1750 to 1900. and then above them the real rated people with numbered ratings, no class.
In this system suppose we have a thousand people in each class, now the people belonging to a particular class wouldn't look the ratings individually, they would just think that this person is silver and I am silver so I should play with them. This system can highly increase the psychology of players who have too much rating phobia, and who analyzes players ratings before playing them. This can also cause the decrease in time for waiting in game.
The rooms can only be divided now in three ratings, bronze silver and gold, instead of infinite required ratings. ( like ( 1601-1700, 1605- 1857 , 1602-1785) there can be many ways a room can be ranked. But in this rule there'd be only 3 ways.
Now this system can indeed reduce individual competition, and it's highly unlikely that it would ever be implemented, but this rated system can highly improve the psychology of players to play more and feel less concerned about rating.
This is the reason why it is so faster to get games so fast in gameranger than in voobly.
This system can also fix point traders and other point issues.
for making it more competitive you can have 5 groups instead of three, group 1, 2, 3 ,4 and the rated players above 2k.
The more the groups the more competetion and fear would be among the players, and if you make two thousand groups, group number 1000 to group number 3000, well... you are back to the current system.
So what I am bascially telling is that shrinking the number of groups you can divide players can reduce the stress and would increase the will to play.
>>>> Everyone is giving there suggestion so I gave mine. I am not saying this is way you should do it or it's the better thing to do, but may be someone reading this post may find one or two points interesting and can make up their own ideas about it.
