Voobly vs. AoE2HD has been a divider among AoE2 players for quite a while now. The top AoE2 pros and more serious players gravitate towards Voobly, while the masses of casual folk opt for AoE2HD. While both platforms have a decent amount of players, HD impressively pulls ahead with an average concurrent player peak of 5,000+. With HD's new expansion, the African Kingdoms, the number will undoubtedly grow. Is it finally time for Voobly players to start accepting HD more now? Yes, HD isn't as bug-free and feature-equipped as Voobly, but perhaps it's worth sacrificing some quality to finally start building a real pro scene in HD?
I am an HD American scrub, I admit. But I really hate to see this current division between HD and Voobly. There's far more new blood coming into HD than there is on Voobly, and with a new expansion on the horizon, the time for the pro scene to come into HD is now! Stop the monotonous Huns vs. Huns, Vikings vs. Vikings, etc, that's been going on for over a decade, and start embracing a new AoE2!
