If there was a rush build order that would turn the game into a 30-second luck-based 0-strategy shitshow, yes, then it would be something like that. In the actual reality, it's nothing like that.

What? Are are you trying to compare that to getting advantage in a legit way in a game?

if you want to compare to football, compare with faults where you do it toget advantage but still can be punished for it.

How about not giving the ball back to another team after an injury, and then running and scoring? No one would do it even in a UCL final, yet the referee couldnt disallow the goal if someone did it.

The bottom line is, there are things in bigger games, too, that are technically allowed by the rules, yet considered unethical.

There's nothing unethical about laming. Like others have mentioned, there are small minor changes that could be made to at least make it as risky as it was prior to DE, but there should be risk/reward for going forward and using skill to either lame -- or block a lamer.

The one-hit came about because the devs wanted to make boar luring easy mode.

I don't want to see this game turned into some auto-pick-your-build order 18min game start with no variation because in the sake of fairness we've ensured all games are mirror civ matches, 15 min treaty with mirror maps in the name of "fairness".

I think it's dishonest for people to accuse people of a lack of integrity for utilizing a game mechanic.

It's not like we've seen all pro's switch to archer civs/builds with the abysmal DE pathing.

People should adapt is all.

The big difference between laming, as opposed to Huang/Inca, is that laming is extremely map dependent. On some maps, you have both boars forward, in which case there's basically nothing you can do to stop at least one getting lamed. On other maps, a player will have both boars back, which means they can't get lamed. Sure, people will definitely get annoyed at playing against "weird" strategies, the same way people will get annoyed at people who wall every inch of their base. There is a difference between that and something that is dependent on the map.

Arguably, this is true of trushes as well (having back stone makes it far, far easier to deal with them), but I think that's a big part of why trushes are disliked. Sometimes if the opponent decides to trush, a single tower can deny a gold, a stone, and your berries. On other maps, it's impossible for them to tower a single resource. It's fine for map gen to make your game harder but when it basically makes you unable to stop an opponent there's a problem.

Which is why, IMO, the problem is with mapgen, not with laming itself. We don't need symmetrical maps, but fairer map generation would solve a lot of issues. The community was moving in that direction already on Voobly, with a free sheep under the TC and many games played on arabia variants with better resource placement and woodlines. Unfortunately, the DE mapscripts have flung us back.

You could take your boars earlier, or even lure your own boars back to your tc with your scout. Or you could block the scout when it comes to lame.

I agree it's easier on DE but disagree that it's anyone's fault for using a mechanic available to them.

My eyes nearly roll out of my head when I hear this stuff about it being "dishonorable"-- and this is from before DE as well when there would be laming in tournaments. Just the holier-than-thou stuff from some pro's is a bit much.

It can be exciting for viewers or casters but its not how you play the game. And the first and last thing is RESPECT DAUT. I don't think it is more embarrassing than a pro player mentions other pro player's name in the public channel and says 'stfu' towards him.

And the important thing is, Mbl doesn't think he is wrong. Other day, i was watching mbl's stream. He got matched with a 1100+ elo noob in the ranked games. The opponent played only 12 games or so. He also made fun with him. When the opponent attacked for a moment, he said 'gg' to his opponent. And his opponent replied back with 'gg'. And guess what, mbl didn't resign. He continued playing without saying sorry or anything. When mbl made a krepost in front of his gold, the opponent directly resigned without saying 'gg'. The irony is, mbl didn't find anything wrong for first few minutes. After chat complaining a lot, he got some realization. Come on bro, you did this behavior against a noob, who might bought the new DE game to play some fun games. What he got in return. Some toxic behavior from a pro. I think that is a real shame. Daut will forget this thing. Coz, he knows you. You guys will play a lot of game against each other. But what about that noob? Maybe he will quit aoe. You have a lot of followers. What will they learn? They will think, saying 'stfu' is common, bullying a noob is also common.

I think, this game and the community deserve more than that from you.

I don't agree, I think the reason they don't post is because they don't want their public image to be affected by their opinions and interactions with the rest of us. I find that a bit of a coward move but it's understandable. The fear of losing viewers, subs, the perfect image you've been building, etc...
This is why I admire those who do, props to you!

There is that too and you're right about it. I prefer seeing this too because then the person seems more real and not a Mr. Goody Two Shoes.

I happen to like Mbl for this reason. He's a great streamer that interacts with his viewers (good vibes in general) but I just don't like seeing the way he responds back sometimes on forums. It is just my humble opinion that he needs to control his frustration better. Just with certain words because it can start a fight rather than a discussion. I don't think the former is what he wants with Daut.

If you guys think, this should happen (like players mentioning name and using bad language in a public forum also don't understanding what he/she is doing wrong), i have nothing to say. If you encourage this, i don't know what will happen next. Well i follow the game for last 10 years. Whatever happen, i will continue follow (even if you don't like). I don't think the priority thing can be addressed easily as it is clearly a consequence of the core pathing mechanics. At most the order in which the scouts are created could be randomized so that we couldn't know in advance who has the priority over whom, but it is always going to be like this.

The way I see this is that laming should be a risky thing: there is s high reward (900f if you count +450 for you and -450 yor your op) so it also needs a high risk. Higher than just the possibility of loosing your sc.

What if boars had increasing attack/speed for every second they are in rage mode?

I do like the idea of increasing the boar's bonus damage vs scouts and changing back to 2 hit aggression.

Laming is definetely an important part of the game and needs to stay. But the way it works now will force it to be banned in tournaments and showmatches until its dealt with imo.

Maybe just make it so scouts can't attack boars in dark age. Just a thought.
