You argue in a very biased way for someone who claims they have no axe to grind.Do you really let your opponent know exactly what you're going to do *every time* you pause? What if the dog was making a mess and he needed to stop it ASAP? Or, to take a completely different example, what if you get a phone call? What if you hear a weird sound? I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of players just type "sec" or "min" when they pause and that's about it. If anything, they explain themselves when they return. As for the length of the pause, how many times have we seen Memb pause for a couple of minutes to say GN, or just talk, to his daughter and/or son? Why should we treat such pauses differently?
As for the second point, *you* may think the game is lost, but your opponent may have an entirely different opinion of it. Unless you're spec/stream cheating, you don't know exactly how strong (or weak) your rival's position is. Boo had reason to expect his halb/ram push would be enough to clear Memb's castle, and was probably betting on that. Whether that would've sufficed is a wholly different matter, but that's not for you, or Memb, to decide. We're not talking about some dude hiding vils on corners, but about an Arena game where players can actually have some safe eco at the back of their base. Also, the claim that unpausing did not change the outcome of the game is baseless - allowing him to tech into Paladin and SO certainly has an impact on any game. Your argument that it was not Memb but his opponent that was being disrespectful in the first place and this gave the former carte blanche to unpause is ludicrous and amounts to a Taliban level of fanboying.
As for Memb being a polarising figure, I could agree with that somewhat, but I think this comes into play mostly for Memb's most diehard supporters, who will rally to his defense no matter what he does. I enjoy his tournaments and I occasionally watch his streams, and I have no axe to grind here, but for me it was -to put it bluntly- a **** move, and his argument that it was late is, if anything, undermined by the fact that he went on to stream for another 2 hours after that. He's clearly in the wrong here and it would be best for all involved if he just apologised.
Blindly defending someone = objective. Disagreeing with me = biased. 2k+ logic. You argue in a very biased way for someone who claims they have no axe to grind.
Are you mad because I did not explain why you sounded biased? Go reread the last sentence of the second paragraph you wrote.Blindly defending someone = objective. Disagreeing with me = biased. 2k+ logic.
Using what is clearly hyperbole does not invalidate anything else that -R- said. He did not exaggerate or twist anything that Memb did in that stream as far as I can see, which is what this is really about. Are you mad because I did not explain why you sounded biased? Go reread the last sentence of the second paragraph you wrote.
I'm neither mad nor do I expect you to explain anything. As you should be able to infer from that sentence you allude to, as well as from my follow up, my expectations for any exchange with you are rather low.Are you mad because I did not explain why you sounded biased? Of course they are. You think I am a Memb fanboy and you just want to attack me because you don't like Memb fanboys. Not sure how one is supposed to reconcile that with the part about "no axe to grind" but I guess that maybe explains why you got so defensive when I pointed it out.I'm neither mad nor do I expect you to explain anything. That doesn't happen on DE. when someone resigns it unpauses the game. There are many players who pause and resign after when they are losing and you just keep waiting like an *****
If the situation was reversed then I would have said the exact same things I did except with the names switched where necessary.Sigh. You really don't get it. I'll put it as simply as I can. This isn't about Memb the person but about something Memb did. I find it pretty clear that what he did was wrong, he should apologise and we can all move on. It really is that simple. As far as I'm concerned, nobody is getting cancelled, killed, censored or boycotted. Fanboys crying about this being some sort of character assassination do him no favours.
My criticism of fanboying has nothing to do with Memb fanboys but with fanboys in general, who will defend their "heroes" regardless of the circumstances. You could reverse the roles in this "affair" and I'm pretty sure the vast majority of those sympathising with Boo (a player I do not know and have never as much as seen on the ladder or on Twitch) would be sympathetic to Memb, but I don't think any "lober boys" would defend the unpauser.
And that's it from me in this thread, for I believe I've made my point sufficiently clear.
im sure it used to be a thing. That doesn't happen on DE. when someone resigns it unpauses the game.
That's not true. I had a game some days ago where the opponent paused and resigned. The game did not continue. After 5 minutes I unpaused and the game was directly won. That doesn't happen on DE. when someone resigns it unpauses the game.
The match will now automatically resume when a player resigns or leaves during a pause.
Clearly it does not always do this unless the previous poster is making up what he said.Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition — Update 39284 - Age of Empires

I had a game a week ago where someone disconnected during a pause and it didn't unpause the game for me.That doesn't happen on DE. when someone resigns it unpauses the game.
+1 Sometimes it doesn't work, and everyone should know about this because we'll wait forever otherwise (or 5 minutes 11)I had a game a week ago where someone disconnected during a pause and it didn't unpause the game for me.
Just happened to me before few days in a TG game , waited for 5mins then my teammate was like "they are dead anyway" after we unpaused both of them resigned immediately. That doesn't happen on DE. when someone resigns it unpauses the game.
if you could trust the changelog that would mean:Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition — Update 39284 - Age of Empires
