It's a common courtesy that most of the competitive community extends to one another. It's not an unreasonable thing to ask when real life things happen (in this case, the guy needed to let his dog out for the toilet).Pausing in a multiplayer game is not a right its a privalage that you should not expect to get from your opponent.
Every streamer has to put up with that and I'm sure it's quite hard. Not gonna say anything bad about memb though, he's a saint for putting up with people criticizing his every move!
This reminds me of the semi-final of LotA, where Viper paused close to the end of a match vs Dracken and everyone was worried about the call he got. In the end the food delivery guy couldn't find his address.. 11Honestly people overuse pauses in my book, and then get impatient to resume the INSTANT they are back. I think a player like the viper does it best, only pause if you absolutely have to,
This is simply incorrect. Boo had teched into rams and was readying for a push. Memb unpauses, which is incredibly bm, and uses that unpaused time to finish teching into cavalier and then click paladin as well as SO.He was in a clearly losing position.
While unpausing is typically considered BM, the game was over 10-20 minutes before. Out of gold, zero map control, no way to get rid of teuton crenellation castles (literally no castles for opponent, who is making bbc to try to kill 8+5 castles.), no relics, just resign. Memb is literally making teutonic knights while the opponent is making trash against crennellation castle push backed by trebs, S/O, paladins, and hc....
Pausing in aoe2 is typically a gentlemen's agreement, but I've had just as many normal quick pauses as BM pauses attempting to waste my time on won positions. Pausing in this situation (allegedly for a dog), seems fair, but no one is really entitled to someone elses time either.
Memb probably wishes he hadn't unpaused just to avoid a topic like this or the chat fallout, but pretending like he committed an unforgettable sin by trying to finish a game that was over a long time ago is laughable.
Also lol @ people calling others toxic, such an overused trope.
Account created only to post in this thread? He was long dead, asked for a "sec" and didn't come back within a minute. This is simply incorrect. Boo had teched into rams and was readying for a push. Memb unpauses, which is incredibly bm, and uses that unpaused time to finish teching into cavalier and then click paladin as well as SO.
If Memb does not unpause then he does not have these techs and the ram push is far more successful.
As for being over for 20 minutes+, this is daft. Boo is in a tough spot but has a better eco(vill count) for the majority of the game and is consistently at 200 pop while Memb spends a long time well below 200 pop.
I love how this suddenly applies with this thread, despite defamation being part of the rules since at least 22 July of 2019. In fact as far as I can tell they're completely unchanged since that date
In the very next game Memb played he continued to play on for at least 5 minutes before calling gg, despite it being, in his words, clearly over.
His opponent hits Imperial while Memb has little military and no resources in the bank, at 3 hours, 34 minutes, and 44 seconds into the vod. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/927125395?t=3h34m46s
Memb is clearly dead with no way to fight against Arbalests. He doesn't resign until 3 hours, 39 minutes, and 34 seconds into the vod. He waits 5 minutes to resign in clearly lost game. My bad, I mean 4 minutes and 50 seconds, I wouldn't want to defame Memb after all. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/927125395?t=3h39m34s
Point is that the "you shouldn't pause and waste your opponents time" argument doesn't hold water in this case, Memb does the very next thing he uses to justify his bm unpause in his very next game.
That and the sudden worry by staff when it comes to defaming Memb is tenuous at best when you look at all the other things said about people in the past year and a half. I can't even mention one of the other points I had made in my original comment since there's no way for me to provide evidence, all Voobly recs from a year ago are gone now.
Wrong, there was an update a few days ago where the red part was added, you should have gotten a notification that there was an update to the terms and rules and had to accept them.I love how this suddenly applies with this thread, despite defamation being part of the rules since at least 22 July of 2019. The reason this was added was that there were a lot of topics accusing people where the accused had a lot to lose while the accuser has very little to lose. It has nothing to do with this topic in particular (as the rule was changed a few days). You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, threatening, spam or spam-like, likely to offend, contains adult or objectionable content, contains personal information of others, accuses others without appropriate proof, risks copyright infringement, encourages unlawful activity, or otherwise violates any laws.
