I need to know what the worst unit is in AOC. The skirmishers? Or is there an even worse military unit?
Every unit has a purpose, but the most useless purpose is the missionaries imo.

missionaries can be useful as 'portable' monk, if you do FC+ knigths/conquistadors
Missionaries are good to follow the army as they're as fast as the calvary (Conquistador and Palladin). All of those mentioned above can be necessary in soem situations. Missionaries are never ever necessary period.
Most of the non-elite uu are crap in final game, then you have to consider their elite stats when making comparisons. Can't say what the MOST useless unit is, but there are certainly some that are highly situational:
Longswordsman
Woad raider (non-elite)
War elephant (non-elite)
Longboat (non-elite)
Berserk (non-elite)
Korean cavaliers
Camels are not at all useless. Cavalry can run away from pikemen, but not camels. A mix of heavy camels and paladins (Persians, Byzantines,) beats pure paladins handily, and is still pretty good at doing what pure paladins do. Halberdiers are better in gaps, where running away isn't an option, but in open terrain, the value of non-Celtic halberdiers goes way down, except as a means of defending siege units.
I used Trade Ship once in Sea of Japan map. I was alone in the right island and all my team was in the other left island, so the only way that I had to get gold was by trading via sea. It was very useful in that situation, I don't think it is the worst unit ever. The trade ship (or that unit in the dock that can trade), its never used, sea trade give less gold and is ***** (sea line trade is one of the worst things in aoc) because it always get stuck, totally the worst unit ever.
But the thread autor meant about militar units, not workers.Yeah, when i started to play i used to use 2-3 trade ships and was nice... but then, why in islands (the most representative water map) players dont use them? or conti, migra, baltic, etc etc, maybe they are not useless at all, but the topic is "wors unit ever" not "mention one or more sittuations when u use X unit",for example: i can say that turtle ships are the most powerfull sea unit, or elephants in land, but in real games its very difficult to use them mainly because of their cost, and despite that we can see them more more often that the trade ship, so that's my vote.
Camels are probably better in a tg setting then in 1vs1 aswell, where lots of knights are common, and the extra movement speed comes in handyCamels are not at all useless.
