Weekend Smackdown

Hello everyone, I want to introduce the Weekend Smackdown to you.
The Weekend Smackdown will be a recurring series with an event taking place on every weekend. There will always be a different rating requirement for every event to provide close and entertaining games for everyone. This events will be started and finished in one day.

Sign-ups for this events will take part in the tournament lobby before the event will start. 16 spots are open for all players being interested in participating. The first 16 players who sign-up will be able to participate, so first come first serve.

Where: Tournament Lobby 1
Rating Requirement: Voobly RM-1v1ladder 1601-1900 highest achieved (atleast 20 games played)

Note: there might be some deviations in the starting times of every round, depends on the time all games of the respective rounds are finished.

Spoiler: How to sign-up

I will open a room in Tournament lobby 1 called "Weekend Smackdown". Players who are interested in participating have to write a message in the room. For example: "I want to sign-up".
After sign-ups finish, I will take the current RM-1v1 rating for seeding purposes. A player needs atleast 20 rated games played on the RM-1v1 ladder.
All players who sign-up for the event have to stay in the room until the seeding is done and everyone knows their opponents for the first stage.

Restarts: there are no restarts for this event in any round

If resources are stuck or in any case not reachable for a player(at least 50% of the tiles has to be reachable, mining camps must be placeable atleast 2 tiles away (2 tiles between ressources and mining camp)from one gold or stonepile, food must be moveable to the TC), the game can be restarted by admin re. (can be chosen by the affected Player) In this case the Admin restart has to be called in the first 8 minutes of the game

§3
Any graphical changes that only affect the player's Age of Empires II: The Conquerors are allowed.

§4
Cheating is not allowed under any circumstances. Players using any kind of cheat will be punished. Any sort of macro will count as cheating and the respective player/team using macros will get instantly disqualified from this tournament.

§5
All the game settings provided in this post MUST be followed. Not following them may result in penalties and possibly disqualification.

§1
All players have to sign-up with their main account (Best known). Each player must submit all relevant usernames to the tournament admin. Smurfing and account sharing is not allowed. Any discovery of the mentioned will result in a disqualification and a ban from all future "Weekend Smackdowns".

§2
All games are by default to be played in the Voobly Tournament Lobby using the VCOM Ladder.

§3
In case of disconnections, the game must be saved and restored. All parts of a restored game who are not downloadable, must be sent to racerfxx@bluewin.ch

§4
After a game has finished, the winning player has to send the match link immediatly to the tournament admin

Streaming will be open for everyone. Players are allowed to stream their POV as long their opponents agree.
Casters must use the following image being showed during the entire "Weekend Smackdown" event.

Prizes:

The Winner of every event will win a 3 months Silver premiummembership on Voobly. (16 sign-ups needed)

Note: Premiummemberships can be just used on the for this tournament signed up account. If your account already benefits from a premiummembership (ex. Streamer or MVP) you will not be able to receive another premiummembership.

Fun idea! I like these 'casual' tournament ideas. No hastle with scheduling but exciting games for a whole day! I hope you get 16 sign ups during that short of a time, especially with a rating requirement + all of these 16players must be available fot that whole afternoon.

Great idea! Looking forward to this, the name reminds me a bit of the AoC Smackdown tournament from like 2 years ago, which was great fun to play. Will these settings be used for every tournament or will they changed? I think a bit more "fun" settings would be great to see as well. Maybe another idea would be to use a time limit, to make sure matches don't drag out too much.

yeah there will always be a different rating requirement. Also settings will change like different maps for sure and different game mode. And yes there will also be a 2v2 event once for sure. not sure about 3v3 but maybe i can give that also a try once. i want to see first how the other events will turn out. everything depends on the interest of the players/community.

i dont expect everyone to watch the event and no one beeing online on voobly up to play some games

40 min real time is more than 60 min ingame time. so it should be enough to play a game. And if not i dont expect it to be much longer.

i dont like adding a timelimit to the games. in this case ppl might just wall themself and start booming. thats not really what we want^^
