Can I team with another Scottish player?
I don’t feel comfortable or willing to represent the UK

The main reason why so few top players took part in aoelympics was the small prizepool, and it was even smaller before PinzTec knocked the door. I guarantee you all the top players will participate in a slow speed 1v1 Forest Nothing tourney when theres a 10million prizepool. Also until 2019/2020, no one sponsors aoe for exposure or viewership anyway.
I remember in one of Yos Vod some time ago (probably a year or two ago?) , he said something like
From my experience the sponsorships depend on several things, but you are both right in one way.idk why you can't get the easy logic and try to twist it for no reason...
surely if you got the prizepool there will be top players, absolutely true and obvious
but what I said is :
if your settings guarantee that not much top players can participate, there will be no sponsor to give you big prizepool.
ragdoll proposes 1 team for each nation => I like it, but such settings limited tournament level, prestige and ultimately the factors affecting the prizepool
Are you underestimate Canadian team with (Hera+Slam+Chris) ). Why you want to team up Hera and Lierry when in Canada, there are many good players.That's not feasible.Then you have just 3 super-strong teams (Viper+Mbl, China, Finland, maybe Brazil) and a bunch of teams made of amateurs. Yeah, Lierrey and Hera won't have super-competitive team-mates so they still won't stand a chance. It will be a walk in the park for those 3 teams, and it will make for a boring tournament to watch. Except if Viper mixes in some masterpizzas, but still.
If you allowed DauT to play with worst player in top 300 of a ex yugoslavian country he didnt have any free choice. It wont lose its national character if there are two teams in top32 that are not "pure" state combinations. You cant say "Well then its just another teamgame torunament aM vs GL." That makes no sense. The people in discussion are not even close to being teammates. While for teams like Brazil A, Suomi Brazil Vietnam its easy because they play with their teammates anyhow leading to the skill gap present. If you want a uniform spirit of the tournament and "that everybody leaves their comfort zone" then it should be for all teams...While I find it sad that some topplayers won't be able to find a suitable teammate to make the country they represent competitive. I do not think it should be allowed. There are lots of tournaments where you can chose your teammate and you can see the chosen players compete there.
Like in any other sports if you don't have a team you are out of luck. If you have a topplayer in any other teamsport they aren't allowed to team up with a better team (or you would have to change nationality) just to get a shot at the worldcup. As the title is Worldcup (as sad as it is that Daut, Project_Belgium, Modri and the others that I forget, that they do not have a chance) it shouldn't be allowed.
If this was called the something like champions league for teams the carts would be different.
Also I see lots of people complain that this would be a cake walk for certain countries ( and this might be true) wouldn't it be the same for self formed teams. You might have 2 or 3 more but still.

Whats nationality ? Its not called national cup at all but world cup. It will have teams from all over the world.I get it I would like for Daut to have a chance as well and personally I would not have a problem with it certainly with the prize money at stake and I agree that the combo DauT- Modri would be more fun to see then Brazil D or China F. Simple matter of fact is that you can not name it worldcup though at least for me.
If you name it a worldcup it's simple you need the same nationality. No offence but a worldcup is teams of the same nationality competing for the cup. It's like that in every world cup event.
I never said it should be about comfort zone but if people like to point out yeah those teams certainly semi-finalist sorry but that isn't an argument. It's the same in other sports for example in baskebatball USA , Spain are always named as at least semi finalist. If you put all ex-yugoslav players together it'll be a close call I think and it would make for a more competitive tournament.
If they are born in the same country and are in the same team (not national) so what. You can not force players to change teams just because they are born in the same country and therefore are able to compete for the national team. Sorry but it's the same in every sport.
Like said before I do not have a problem with that but then the name for the tournament is wrong.

You have a very good point there that isn't included in the title and there can be a worldcup of teams not nationality based.Whats nationality ? Its not called national cup at all but world cup. It will have teams from all over the world.
Not sure what ur on about Hera has a couple decent team mates in GL_slam and iL_chrisHera won't have super-competitive team-mates so they still won't stand a chance
The rules are very incomplete. The definition the tournament uses for nationality or even eligble teams isnt stated but just open to interpretation in whole different rule.You have a very good point there that isn't included in the title and there can be a worldcup of teams not nationality based.
In the first rule of the rulebook it specified that teams of the same nations will be forced to compete if they make it further. So nations is mentioned there and should so be only nationteams. B
But I do agree that it isn't obvious with the title
Yes, if we follow the proper rules, Norway won the World Cup, represented by Viper. In solo events, a country can have multiple players representing them, just like in the Olympics but unless I'm wrong, I've never seen a World Cup for teams not consisting of national teams or having multiple teams from the same country.The rules are very incomplete. @Ragdoll So Norway won DM World Cup, not Viper where he competed as one man show team for Norway ? And USA had several one man teams ?? So there are no united teams in world tournaments of different countries, even different nationalities ?

The proper rules to be read where ? Just calling your intuition to be what it should be without any doubt sounds iffy.Yes, if we follow the proper rules, Norway won the World Cup, represented by Viper. Feel free to google World Cup and find the definition from tons of sources. This is the world cup.
Let's take football for instance, Romania has not qualified to a World Cup for 22 years and most likely won't any time soon. Do you think someone will allows us to form a United Nation and fill it up with the best players from each country to finally qualify to the final stage?
Let's run with the imagination. Let's say we actually win the World Cup. We and other 7 countries.
What will people chant on the streets? We are 12.5% champions!!! Someone should alert Queen to come up with a new song cause the first one is flawed.

@Ragdoll there is for example a world cup of teams in football (soccer for the americans) so yeah interpretation is possible there.
Cricket WC has the West Indies competing (Jamaica, Trinidad and all the small island states like St Lucia). Lacrosse WC has the Iroquois nation competing. In Handball, Greenland plays at the WC, while in Football, they are not allowed to. In Rugby, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland play as one team, whereas in other sports, Northern Ireland either competes for itself or as part of the UK. There is some wiggle room everywhere, so no need to be too strict about it.
where is the map pool?
Map Pool
- Acropolis
- Arabia
- Arena

Where can I find rules regarding the viabilty of teams regarding their nationality ? What are requirements to be in a team country X ?
No rules about sling?
Also given that all the money from T90s subs will be split evenly between the Main Event and the Silver League, this could become even worse. For example, let's say T90 gets 10k subs, then the prizes (assuming same percentages) would be:
Getting second place in the silver league will earn more than fifth to eighth place in the Main League, which is pretty insane.Main Event = $30,000
1st = $7,855
2nd = $5,564
3rd/4th = $2,836
5-8th = $1,200
9th-16th = $764
Silver League = $5,000
1st = $2,000
2nd = $1,400
3rd/4th = $800
There are no rules for nomad-style maps, did you forget them or do these same rules apply for them?
Which teams will be in which groups? Will it just be seeds 1,8,9 and 16 for group A, seeds 2,7,10 and 15 for group B etc.?
Could you elaborate on how this will be done? Will you just make the play-off brackets yourself? If there are two teams from the same nation that got first in their group, will they match in the Ro16 or in the quarterfinals?
Which team will be which in this Captains Mode?
Also, it's a very small advantage that most likely will get nullified by the snipes, but I think the bans should be switched, so that the player who has the last ban doesn't also get the first pick.
How will the teams that drop down from the Main Event be seeded? Will the teams that ended 3rd in the group get a better seeding than the teams that ended 4th? And will the rule that multiple teams from the same nation will be set against each other count in the Silver League as well?
Not sure if it's possible on this nomad, but I assume trapped vills count as a bugged map as well?
Also the rulebook misses §4
Just want to wish @robo good luck when he starts answering all the questions that are now pilling up.
West-Indies is apparently qualified as a testNATION (though I have no clue what that means).
