everybody has the right to cast on his own and use the words he prefers, but pls let others do their thing and dont try to force your personal preferences on them!
That has the potential for abuse. Same as allowing a Nazi to speak and not banning him/her because its their opinion and we don't want to force our opinion. Besides, with the whole #gamergate thing, its better to at least try and not give a bad impression.everybody has the right to cast on his own and use the words he prefers, but pls let others do their thing and dont try to force your personal preferences on them!

Idk how many times I have to say it. I'm not suggesting a ban or censor

I really wish the feminists didn't take over gamergate. They have a legit issue that needs to be dealt with, sure. But it's pretty much entirely swept the original issue under the rug altogether.

Exactly. People can still say whatever they like, but a lot of people would appreciate if they could clean it up a little bit.
I also hate the current use of the word "rape" and tend to distance away from people who use it, be it on-line or real life. I've seen sooo many streamers use the word and yet everyone keeps their mouth shut and don't say anything. I personally don't like to tell people what they can say or not so I just avoid them. You could also start a debate on the use of the word "******ed" while your at it, but I somehow find it less of an issue. What do you guys think of the latter?
can you give me a quote where i wrote that you said it?Idk how many times I have to say it. I'm not suggesting a ban or censor
why are you suggesting a ban or censor?
1. i cant recall writing that and i havent found that post in my historyDec 2014, 16:18 GMT » 2k+dotovic wrote:

How about we make up our own word?
Example  Dotivic got vipered by 9mil
What word can you think of that is aoc related that could fit the bill?
9mil most people aren't going to stop using the wordunless given an alterative.rape
What better alternative than an aoc made up word? :ugeek:
this^I can think of very few words capable of eliciting a more visceral reaction from its victims than 'rape', and anybody with a shred of empathy and social intelligence should welcome the push towards a more inclusive, less offensive environment. There are literally tens of millions of rape and sexual assault survivors living with a level of pain that most people in the gaming community will never know. You don't hear rape victims joking about rape, and that speaks volumes. When you use 'rape' in such a casual and cavalier way, you aren't reclaiming or redefining the word; you are trivializing the very real pain and suffering that ruins lives every single day. Rape should have no place here.
We should find a more appropriate means of expressing ourselves. We should want to be better.

I thought we already had grassed, but vipered would work.

hmm grassed?
I think i like the sound of grassed!
"Feage just grassed you'
[quote="
It originated from something Tim wrote in Chinese to Viper, translated to English. Apparently it was supposed to mean "I'll **** your sister", or something along those lines. But nobody could possibly associate grassing with that, so it's just a funny way of saying that somebody beat somebody elses ***.
Someone linked this thread in a recent post- I'm glad that I don't hear the word "rape" often, if ever, these days on AoE2 streams. It's absolutely a very offensive word in the English language, if you're not a native English speaker, it's honestly a joke that someone would argue otherwise, as others said in this thread, if it were a word used in your native tongue you would probably feel differently. And if you don't, you should do some self-reflection and understand that words have power, and can hurt people, so you should be careful in how you use them.
Disagreed - depends on the context.
There are so many other words that you can use to describe gameplay, I don't see a situation where the word would be a better word as a descriptor, it's just used because it's a harsher word. People are not using it because they think it is a genuinely better word to describe the gameplay they are seeing.Let's be clear about the context ie. sentence the word 'rape' is used in.
- If the verb to rape is used to describe gameplay: it is fine.
- If the subject is the rape of a person; real or virtual: never fine.
