For Zak to facilitate this sponsorship deal (even if he wasn't "representing" TyRanT) while at the same time heading Escape, which is organising an upcoming event, is a conflict of interest. Conflicts of interest aren't "cheating" per se but they're a problem because they create opportunities for people to abuse their positions.
Nobody (or at least nobody sane) is suggesting that Zak has actually abused his position here – I trust Zak and I think most of the community does too. The point remains however that as a matter of business ethics, this is (on the face of it) questionable behaviour. This isn't the sort of thing we in the community should normalise because not everybody is as upstanding as Zak. Hopefully in any future deals people will have more clearly defined roles.
