The Warchief Club

Well, hello everyone, it's your friendly neighborhood esport writer with an announcement. I am organizing an all Empire Wars tournament with what I think is a never before seen format!

The Warchief Club seeks to find the hidden gems in the vast deserts of Empire Wars' seemingly shifting strategy landscape. The entirety of the Red Bull Wololo series has shown us that there is a lot left to explore about the game mode. So why not spend a month with the game mode?

Format:
32 signed up players will compete in a free pick Empire Wars ladder (called the Club stage), they will be looking to reach the top of the rankings for a whole month, having to play more than 8 matches. At the end of the month, the 16 best players will be seeded in a Single-elimination bracket for the title of Warchief and potentially some treasure.

Any player that has participated in any Red Bull Wololo Qualifier (and reached the top 16 or higher) will be given sign up priority. If there are vacant spots by the end of sign-ups, the remaining players will be chosen from the Signup Thread in chronological order.

Dates:

• Sign-ups close on February 20th.
• Club Stage kicks off on March 1st and runs until April 2nd.
• Round of 16 will be played on the 3rd of April, starting at 11 GMT.
• Quarterfinals will be played on the 4th of April, starting at 11 GMT.
• Semifinals will be played on the 10th of April, starting at 11 GMT.
• Finals will be played on the 11th of April, starting at 11 GMT.

Prize Pool:
Currently, the prize pool is $120. If anyone wishes to donate, please reach out to me on discord Adico#8961 or DM me in Twitter. If a prize pool is gathered, it will be split in the following fashion:

• 1st place: 50%
• 2nd place: 30%
• 3rd place: 15%
• 4th place: 5%

Streaming Policy:
Open to all, just reach out to me in discord. You only need to show the Logo while in-game.

Update: Check cleared from a project 100$ of my own money added to the prizepool!

 

Update: added another $20 to the prize pool. Also, given that there are only 7 players signed up currently, it is very likely that the tournament will be postponed if signups remain below 16 players. If that is the case by the 15th, I'll move the dates (to be determined).

 

Update: Signups are up to 15, so dates will remain largely the same! The only change I will be making is to reduce the playoffs to the top 8 (instead of 16) unless signups reach 32 by the 20th. This means that the first round of playoffs will be played on the 3rd and 4th of April (instead of just the 3rd).
