Hello, Good Monday morning everyone!
After an action-packed weekend featuring the Goodbye HD Tournament, first and foremostly, I would to thank those people who made the Tournament a reality!
I would also like to thank those who signed up and played, the Winner Original, Runner up Nili AOE and 3rd Place The_Dragonstar. Also a big well done to all the sign ups, we had a variety of players try their hand in the tourney from rm-focused players to dm exclusive players.
In this post I would also like to touch on your thoughts about the GoodBye HD tournament as well as a final rallying cry to give you one last opportunity to add to the final prize pool!
As is so often in life, an idea oft stays just that an idea. I had the idea for a Tournament to be played on HD, just over a year ago today. That idea unfortunately never fully materialized, it was only when I contacted a loyal Age 2 supporter, Army, did he offer to share in the vision and actually donate to the prize pool. So thank you Army for your huge support in making the tournament possible! I would also like to thank Chino & Zack, also of DM Gaming, for their donations to the prize pool and for the faith and trust that they place in me and all their hard work to ensure the tournament was a success.
The Official caster of the Tournament [DREAM] Alkhalim (twitch.tv/alkhalim), did a wonderful job casting the Bronze match between myself & The_Dragonstar and the Finals between Original & Nili AOE. Thanks also the viewers of the stream and congratulations on those lucky winners of DE during the Goodbye HD Tournament DM Gaming Prize Giveaway.
Doofay deserves a mention, as someone who donated his time to ensure the tournament ran smoothly and the games were being played and making sure the scores were known to us too. Thank you Doofay, your support is what makes this community so awesome and allow us to do events such as the GoodBye HD Tournament.
Kellan, the winner of the DMWC organized by one of the GoodBye HD Tournament participants Nili AOE, deserves credit as the "light that never goes out". His support for the DM Community is truly something else. Thank You Kellan.
This post would not be the same, without giving credit to DM Gaming, lead by Chino, to deliver a first class service to the DM Gaming Community. DM Gaming proved this over the weekend.
Finally I would like to talk about what the GoodBye HD Tournament meant to you, the viewer, the audience. For me, it meant so much. It was the first tournament I was in charge of and despite the odds being lower than me beating Jidba in a BO21, the tourney, in my view, was really a great success. We had some great players enter, wonderful support to help run it, and a fantastic atmosphere throughout.
One thing, I could not help but note, was the lack of streaming for the event. It would have been more than ideal to cover all tourney matches. Please share your thoughts below on the GoodBye HD Tournament, I can't wait to hear what you thought about it all!
Finally I would like to say, the future is looking bright for Age of Empires 2 and for Deathmatch as we approach the new game release of the Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition! Roll on 2020! Your support is invaluable, should you feel you wish to add to the GoodBye HD Tournament prize pool or have another idea you wish to make a reality - You can contact me. I look forward to hearing from you, the Age 2 community!
Thank you everyone! x Legend x
