Re: Seeking ideas: Ways to encourage NPL players to move to
Alright, thanks for the clarifications. Sorry OneMillion, I might have come off more harsh than intended.
The issue is indeed complicated because of differences in individuals and interests. All I wanted was to provide are my personal thoughts on the topic, gained from my transition experience. I get that there is a risk for giving someone a chance. Your point that moving to MS for more challenging games is also true for filthy casuals like me. I wouldn't want to stomp in NPL, so it's natural to move to where games are more challenging - but on my turf so to say. You see, I just don't really like 1v1s and still believe having to qualify for MS is contributing to the lack of pull that MS has on higher NPL players that are mostly TG players. If merging the lobbies still isn't on the table, maybe my second to last post and the advice to move over in heaps can help somehow. With a little moderation, that could be organized. After, say 20 games, I felt well accepted in my ELO range, so I don't have to rely on my few NPL mates and neither would those who get accompnaied to make the transition. The hard part for me was to get the ball rolling. As to the discrepancy in terms of rating vs. actual skill this would result in, maybe that would be temporary and settle of time. This seems to be the trade-off for having more people come over imo.
