Red Bull Wololo 2 Announcement

Red Bull Wololo is back, with another edition of the action packed Empire Wars tournament. Our eight quarter finalists from the first Red Bull Wololo are invited directly to the main event, and there will once again be two open qualifiers to decide the other eight competitors.

The eight returning players are Mr_Yo, TheViper, Hera, Liereyy, DauT, MbL, TaToH & LaaaaaN. Will TheViper get revenge on Mr_Yo for his complete domination in the Final or will another player take their chance at the crown?

Qualifier 1 will be played over Friday 07th - Saturday 08th August, and Qualifier 2 will be the following weekend Saturday 15th - Sunday 16th August, beginning at 13GMT each day. Expect to see two intense days filled with hundreds of games being played between the competitiors, fighting for glory & prizes.

the trailer and the artwork of the 2 figures on the banner are very well designed. The production value was already insane in the first event. Things will only get better. Would have loved to see 2vs2 as well. But hey, I am not going to complain over this. Pretty hyped!

I really disslike how certain top players know weeks in advance about a tournament that the rest of us learn about a couple days before it happens. I'm not personally affected this time because I'm neither interested nor good enough to endanger top players in these settings. Some other players might be though. But not if they have like 4 days to prepare. Hell somebody could even book vacations not knowing it will collide with a 30k tournament. How can you announce such a big tournament less than a week before it happens?? People with jobs have no chance but to just yolo it while the chosen few who are professional aoe players anyway can do all the practising they want and arrange their schedules accordingly. Really unfair and elitist.

also, just really hyped again to watch :D and i guess for the players it also is a big step from past tournaments, since its not only top 16 winning,, its almost everyone winning atleast something. which is amazing ,

That is out of our hands, we asked for it but Red Bull wants the first qualifier Friday-Saturday because of other Red Bull events happening on the Sunday.

The second qualifier is Sat-sunday.

Empire Wars is more suited to a strictly Esports environment since there are time constraints on how long a sporting event takes place.

 

The only players who should have known about this event are those who were invited and don't need to participate in the qualifiers.

I would still count that as very much unfair.

Yes for the qualification everyone learned at the same time so qualifiers are on an equal footing (in theory).

But the invited players still have pretty massive advantages. They knew about the dates beforehand so they should be able to train and prepare as well as clear the dates. Meanwhile their opposition will have a lot less time to practice and will be weakened by the absence of players who won't be able to make it because of scheduling conflicts with such short notice.

Seems pretty stacked for the qualified players if you ask me.

While that is true, I'm not really sure how to avoid it, can't invite players to an event if you don't know if they are able to participate. Red Bull also wants to send them some stuff for promotion things, which requires time.

None of the player knew which maps would be played, or about any of the rule changes (increased time limit, scout instead of 2 horses) to the best of my knowledge, so I feel that we've done an ok job at keeping the field as level as possible.

If you can think of ways to minimise this further please let me know

I’d be so hyped for this, make sure I could participate, but I scheduled some things for those weekends already and now will try to reschedule to be able to play at least 1 weekend. Gotta say this is the 2nd time for this tournament. OK, 8 players were informed about this already which is unfair on its own, but fine.. However, I don’t believe those are the only players, like all aM members knew about it and Nicov hears about that only now? Jordan, slam, Lyx and more didn’t know at all either? I was also quite skeptical but since no1 knew about the settings and maps I don't really care whether nicov or slam knew 3 weeks in advance from their teammates. (just giving an example don't know if their teammates did pass info) Sure it might give them an advantage, I still think everyone should be on even ground. I guess the short time period between the announcement and start of tournament can be bad for people that have to work or made plans for the weekend. I myself will be at home the whole week and since there is quarantine my weekends are free
