It's true development and servers cost money. But fixing the game they had in the beginning into a shining gem and continuing to market it as before is an exponentially better plan for financial gain than developing, advertising, and releasing a completely new sub-project with the guarantee of releasing as a buggy mess to a customer base pre-limited to those who already own the game, while also having its design philosophy arguably rooted in the predatory business practice of the "bait and switch."I swear to God this reddit is full with Mouthbreather 11

I agree with this; Flemish Revolution does not synergize well with the civ, I don't think. It can be interesting for a Burgundian mirror match, since Flemish Militia are a counter to cavalry units which means they would counter Coustilliers, but other than that it doesn't seem like it fits with their playstyle.I think the revolution concept is fine but I don't like that Flemish Revolution is on a civ designed to be a long-term eco powerhouse. It would be interesting if it just let you recruit the Flemish Militia at town centers - giving you a unique recruitment option at a place where you usually can't get troops. But with Burgundians being geared towards long term eco with the Vineyards and Relic bonus, it really seems to clash violently.
A revolution-style bonus would be way more interesting for a civ that is not very good in late game, so they could have an all-in option to pull out of their sleeve.
That is total bullshit and its been disproven many times.I swear to God this reddit is full with Mouthbreather 11

Are Burgundians all that good in lategame though? Their eco bonus doesn’t actually do anything after Castle age; the UU falls off in Imp and that leaves them with no-bloodlines Paladin/Hussar, decent gunpowder, and not much else afaics (no arb, no siege engineers, no ring archer armour, no supplies). If you can’t win in early imo Flemish revolution seems like your only option tbh, and you really have to kill almost everything your opponent has with the Flemish militia or you’re Kinda dead.A revolution-style bonus would be way more interesting for a civ that is not very good in late game, so they could have an all-in option to pull out of their sleeve.
don't worry, Heart assured us that the civs were actually quite well balanced and everyone was overreacting, just calm down, you only have to play a horrendously balanced game for a month or 2 no big dealJust played a game on Coastal Forest where I won water killed about 20 villager building a castle and was 2k score ahead and then lost to 50 free units was very fun
Any civ with burgundian vineyards would be pretty strong in lategame 1v1. They have a lot of extra gold and the cheap UU is probably the best raiding unit in the game since it oneshots villagers. Are Burgundians all that good in lategame though? Where is the /s??? WHERE is the /s???Having now played with the new patch for a week, I kinda think Burgundians should get buffed honestly.
very flexible tech tree??? hahahaha they dont have full archery, plus lack last armor, only full barrack, which are the less utilized units, and practically no stable units. look again pleaseBurgundians are not the primary problem Sicilians are. Yes the burgundy UU is op but every single thing about Sicilians is over powered. Extra TC construction speed in dark age gives them 3 extra villigers on Nomad maps without loosing all their food and gives them a strong douce. Reduced extra damage from counter units and extra food on farms gives them a strong scout rush. TC bonus + Extra food on farms gives them a very strong castle age boom. They also have a very flexible tech tree and a broken UT.
They have full cavalier and take less damage from halb. They have Arbs that are fine and good infantry I would say that is about everything you need for 1v1. Also it's not like you ever get to post imp because you click UT and the game is over in castle age.very flexible tech tree??? hahahaha they dont have full archery, plus lack last armor, only full barrack, which are the less utilized units, and practically no stable units. look again please
Just to add that it would be great if you could inform our fellow aoe player @Paint that this game is not about the experience of the 99% of the player base anymore. It is about microsoft making money with the stupidification process of the game.don't worry, Heart assured us that the civs were actually quite well balanced and everyone was overreacting, just calm down, you only have to play a horrendously balanced game for a month or 2 no big deal
Hey but dont you dare to complain! We have plenty of tournaments to keep the 20 top rated players happy so they dont talk about the fact that the game is being ruined.
Afterwall, I didnt buy the game to enjoy it! Nah...My priority is to watch streams of tournaments for the 1% of the community.
In that way it makes total sense because the Flemish were always an annoying bunch that didnt play well with whomsoever their lords or nationality was. Burgundy was a patchwork of lands with no coherent identity so its actually good design then.I agree with this; Flemish Revolution does not synergize well with the civ, I don't think. It was a very coherent identity: a French ducal house that sought to control as many valuable lands on the periphery of France as possible so they could obtain the resources necessary to challenge their overlord for control of France itself. That they were French and fighting over France suggests they were maybe already represented within the framework of AoE2 by the Franks but hey if you let yourself get concerned by petty things like that then you can't keep shoveling out low effort DLCs to meet some revenue goal set by an MBA with no real understanding of long term growth strategies. In that way it makes total sense because the Flemish were always an annoying bunch that didnt play well with whomsoever their lords or nationality was.
