at least they fixed the 20 something years old exploit of paliside scan, you now gotta scout
I'm not a fan of the research cost of Spies no longer being reduced. It was a fun trick in campaigns or cute games like Forest Nothing. And it never affected normal games. Otherwise the bonus makes sense, at least it's more usable now.View attachment 188673
I find this an interesting change, let's see how useful it will be during the games.
EDIT :
Italians are going to be insane on land maps now as well ; )
I don't know, is Sicilians how good balanced. Nothing seems to be too OP at the first glance.
the foundation-scouting noobs losing access to maphacks is amazing news
Noobs? mostly pro players have been using this forever 11, cause real noobs don't have the speed to scan the map without losing somethingthe foundation-scouting noobs losing access to maphacks is amazing news
glad to see aoe2 grow up, even if some of its fans don't
I agree on eco being weak, the early eco tech doesn't look worth it most of the time, but how do most civs have army stronger than essentially extra +2 knights...because most civs have way better bonuses and slightly stronger army can't overcome 1000's of resource deficit that good civilizations get.
There's more power to the Burgundian bonus than this, as the Lithuanians player still has to compete for relics to get that +2. But all Burgundians have to do to get their "relic" bonus is one click in the Stable for the cost of 150 food, 150 gold, and 100 seconds of research time. And with Paladin immediately available in the Imperial Age, upgrading to Paladin is faster for Burgundians than Frankish Cavalier + Paladin with Chivalry. But the Burgundians don't have to pay for a Castle and Unique Tech for the faster upgrade time.Cavs at castle is fine they are just Lithuanians Knights with 2 relics
He's saying the Burgs have slightly stronger army, but that that can't overcome the worse eco.I agree on eco being weak, the early eco tech doesn't look worth it most of the time, but how do most civs have army stronger than essentially extra +2 knights
Also, what about team game pocket? Arena? FC into their broken UU or just extra +2 knights army sounds very strong to me
Militia will never kill Palisade anywaysThis is something. At least makes Fast Castle a bit harder.

Just played 5 games as or against Burgundians and they are nowhere near as OP as people keep thinking they are. As expected, people have been criticizing the update without any clue as to how the new civs would actually play out. Their unique unit might need a small nerf to their charge bonus so they don't one shot some specific units like villagers anymore without the need of upgrades, but that's all I can see being too strong about the civ. They have some good power spikes, but their economy for open maps is still worse than the tier 1, and even some tier 2, civs.
If that really is what you understood from my post then I'm disappointed my friend. Hopefully you can enlighten us with your broader experience though, as it seems you have reasons to disagree with what I said.nice you played a civ a few times in 1v1 on a single map that must mean the civ is well balanced for tg and other maps too
Not sure dude, still waiting to see how the civs play out. Haven't seen anyone play them in TG at all and barely any 1v1. Sicilians are probably broken af on nomad since they can get their tc built well before 1 min if even 2 vills start close. Burgundians UU are probably OP af on any map where you can boom easily. If that really is what you understood from my post then I'm disappointed my friend.
