NOMADNESS IS FINISHED
It took a bit longer than anticipated, that's for sure, but in the end I am happy with how this tournament went. There were a lot of great games, Memb streamed nearly all of it, and I thoroughly enjoyed the matches.
I am not too surprised that Nicov and Mentalist took 1st place and the prize money of $450usd. A big congrats to them as they had a lot of good competition. But in the end, the no. 1 seed lived up to expectations and dominated the event from start to finish.
I was also really glad that so many great teams signed up and provided the community with such good matches.
At this point I am considering hosting another tourney in the near future, but as of now I have not made any decisions.
A HUGE thanks to those who donated to help fund the prize money, and a very special shout out to Memb for doing such an awesome job streaming the event (live when possible/streaming recs when it wasn't).
If you enjoyed the tourney, please let me know. If I get enough positive feedback, I might decide to do another tournament.
Also -- it would be helpful to me if you could give some advice for how I could make a future tourney better.
Were the rules fair? Was the amount of games played each round the correct amount? How could the tourney run more smoothly? The more feedback you guys can provide me, the better then next event could be.
Thx for all the comments and support I received over these past months, and as Memb always says, and the only reason I do this is because "we love this game".
One final comment just for those of you who don't know me well - I have been around Age of Empires since AoK (1998), played with BsK team in WCL1 and 2 when we won 1st place (with players like kkab, halen, grunt and yanzi as teammates -- all of whom were my really great friends). I have also hosted several tourneys in the past, all of them successful and always the winners getting paid asap. In all that I do for AoC I try to be as helpful to the community as possible, and run tourneys for the benefit of players and the community as a whole. I hope that you can see that if you were to help me financially to sponsor any future events, you can rest assured that I would never be dishonest in any way with prize money.
Cheers
