+100!give petards some pierce armor...
let those suicidal bastards have some use on aoc.
- Palisade walls take +1 second to build
- Stone walls take +3 seconds to build
Well, Archer/skirmisher units also have to run from enemies closing in too much, and it just looks stupid. They are just a beefed pike already more expensive than champions, if u need to make kamayuks plus another kind of unit (pikes or champs) only to die between them and cavalry, what is the point for having this unit at all? Nobody would use them as cavalry will always outrun them.
The +2 range is exactly what u are paying for with that gold, so u dont need any other unit to counter cavs.
Imho of course.

If the Kamayuk would be too weak one could also simply play around with its stats and for example make their base dmg stronger to reflect their role as "ranged" pikemen more.
Just to clear up: Kamayuks only have 1 range

Now u explained that ur concerned about the looking of it.
Indeed its kinda weird to see them fighting.
Can u read? I stated that I'm concerned about the looks from the start...Something I just noticed when watching this Inca preview video:

Since the Kamayuk has a range of 2, will he receive a minimum range of 1? Because it actually looks quite strange how he attacks paladins when his spear tip is 1 tile behind the Pala oO.

This way it would be necessary to have a meatshield for the Kamayuk, like spearmen line or champions.
Well, if it would get a minimum range you'd need some sort of meatshield - EW, pikemen, champs. Your enemy would need to cut through those units first while your Kamayuks deal damage from the 2nd row. Then increase the base damage, and you have quite a strong supporting unit for your main infantry units.Something I just noticed when watching this Inca preview video:

U forgot quoting the part that originated my reply.
Your whole post actually seems to use the weird looking issue to justify your suggestion to add a minimum range and make the unit totally useless.
It definately is... I just hope that the spear length has been reduced when cysions team decided to scrap the 2 range from it.200 Pages before I said it looks ridiculous. Seems I was not the only one 11.
Ye, thats why you would need meatshield units. This way you would make the Kamayuk a support unit to strengthen your main frontline, opposed to using them as your mainline infantry (and imo that's how UU should be used).it's never been 2 I think, but I think that the minimum range could be something interesting to test, because they were kinda OP at a point, and mostly because of the range.
it seems logical that with their long spear they can't fight if the enemy is too close. But it could also look ridiculous, with them trying to get back to attack but never succeding due to cavs speed 11
Well, you can compare the long size spear to the greek/macedonian Sarissa:We are forgetting that it actually has only +1 range, if it gets a minumum range of 1, well...then it will never be able to attack an unit, right?
So actually the change would be to increase the range to +2 (given how long the spear is), allowing to add a minimum range. Even if that would be the case...is there any historical background to support this?
Well,UU cant be spammed as much as trash units, since you can build more barracks than you can build castles, so I'm not rly sure that this statement is correct. But well, it also depends on the UU. Plumies are a nice force by themselves for example, while you cant use brit longbows without protection properly. What would make sense - use ur imagination here plz - is if when they are garrisoned, they could actually do some damage to the units attacking the building they are garrisoned in because if the long spears can reach from inside the building. Dunno maybe i just smoke too much weed today already.
P.S.: Imho UUs are not support units at all....pretty much all of them are main units, the trash units (hussars, pikes, skirm) that are the supportive units....right?
Are you serious?? **** when I get celts against EEWs i make basically scorpion spamming plus their excelent halberdiers+champions. No chance for eagles. Celts are already OP so I cant agree more about removing their useless palas. Celts didnt have any gunpowder experience to support hand canoneer anyway.Celts should get hand cannoneers (so they can fight ETKs; scorps are a bit too slow and weak to be much use
Those already exist. Palisade Gates. Awesome.---There should be wooden gates (so Goths and Huns can transverse their palisades while delaying enemies)
No please otherwise 10 militias could easily take down a TC in a well-managed drush.---Militia should (maybe) have more hp (to make people use them more)
This would totally mess things up if u dont reduce the ships speed too.---Ships should take longer to turn around
Really good point. Reminds me an arguing i had with someone......---Archers should have minimum range (ever tried to draw a bow point blank?)
The DSFs that has a higher gather rate than shore fish in order to compensate the travel time each boat spends to get there. Exactly to improve the game balance ---Fishing ships should gather shore fish as fast as deep sea fish (improves game balance, if no DSFs are near your dock)
