This could actually be good for Memb. A chance for him to get some rest and try to evolve a bit. I watched a lot of Memb this year and he organized three tournaments and streamed almost every day and it was obvious he was tired in the end of the year. Saying "unbelievable" in a high pitched voice all the time even when something unremarkable happens was a bit annoying. Agree with previous poster that t90, apart from all the questionable stuff he does, is constantly trying to evolve. Memb is stuck. His USP was charm, passion and at least from my perspective an narrative of being the underdog who cares more about the community than others. The last one was completely lost for me when a player in his tournament couldnt play because his city was being shelled with artillery or missiles and he dont even comment on it, just moved on.

There are always different options. One option would be to just stay at home instead of playing the tourist in Spain.

Even an organization like FIFA had the decency to ban Russia from the world cup, yet this community somehow finds it difficult to simply ban Russians from its tournaments. Were some of the people in this community to live some decades back, they are the ones who would have refused to take a clear position even after Kristallnacht.

Easy for you to say when you live comfy in western country and never had a problem in your life and now instead of appreciating your privileged position you go around looking for reasons to get offended by and ideally cancel someone. It's not Vinchester's fault that his country has war hungry leader. He has exact same right to visit other countries and friends as you and me. Nationality has nothing to do with that.

FIFA's decision has nothing to do with decency. It's a simple marketing decision. It's popular to hate on Russia nowadays and they gain good guy points in public eyes by harassing Russia, this seems more favorable deal than not giving up on Russian support.
You could also consider it a sanction but the whole point of sanctions is pressuring the other side to behave as you want. To induce pressure, it has to be something that is deeply unpleasant for the other side, to the point where they would reconsider their actions so far and if they're worth facing the sanctions. However nobody in Russian government will care that one dude can't play video games. Banning Vinchester from competing won't make Putin stop the war.

You have no idea why such actions are undertaken. You are just a bored insensitive kid who wants to see a mindless witch hunt.

Unpopular opinion, as I know AOEZone loves its drama, but I'd really like to see some actual discussion about tournaments on the topics designed for them and not have them dissolve into the exact same arguments about who does or doesn't like certain casters players etc. I swear you could copy and paste several pages of this thread in 10 months when NAC 5 is announced, and nobody would know that it was about a different tournament. Are there even mods on this site who could rein in a topic if they so wanted to when it gets this way or have they all run fleeing years ago?

As for the actual tournament, I'm of course glad to see some things moving back to AOE2 from AOE4. I think the move to the GL house will prove to be interesting. I'm not sure if it really adds a ton more space, but hopefully it makes things easier as you could tell how cramped the last ones were. Either way, I'm excited to see what they figure out to do. I'm also excited to see new talent getting into the scene more and more. People warmed up to Riley pretty well, and I thought Artosis was good. I don't know too much about Dash other than the name, and some very minor stuff I've seen him do with t90 in the past, but having new people who are established in other scenes show what they can do can only be good for the scene as a whole. I'm also interested in what people think of another tournament being played on the 9 villager start mode, especially high tier players? Almost seems like standard 3 villager dark age starts are becoming the minority in tournaments recently.

All things told, I'm excited for another LAN where we get to see the players together. The games in recent tournaments have been really good lately and I have to say once we have the 10 players I expect I could make a reasonable case for choosing any of at least 8 of them to be the winner.

Literally every tournament that has kept the game alive over the past 15 years primordially existed because of this board.
There are obviously a lot of trolls on this forum but who cares? There are trolls on reddit aswell but the despicable up/down vote concept on reddit just drowns them out. Everyone with even half a brain knows who to ignore on the boards. But no, let's act all butthurt because three trolls disliked my event

It's even straight up bad business. Why ignore one of the most influential AoE communities? I honestly don't know. In my country we say that even bad press is still press.

Not to mention you'd be hard pressed to find a single person who'd completely disagree with some of the criticism he has received.




Meanwhile Huehuecoyotl is hosting a Nations Cup on top of the AoE-olympics he organised earlier.
Tournaments entirely communtiy funded and primordially promoted on this website, in which players of varying skill are allowed to participate.
Over 450 registered players and he isn't crying one bit about the AoEzone trolls.

Meanwhile T90 is organising a 2nd season of his T90's titans league in which people of varying skill are able to compete.
And yet, eventhough he arguably is one of the biggest names (if not the biggest) in the community, he replies here and explains some of his decisions.
He even takes the time to congratulate other people on their tournaments.

While I don’t disagree with some of what you said, I can see why Nili would feel the way he did/does. It just gets tiresome.

I have watched some of my friends that are known people in the community for instance get slandered for literally hundreds of posts, many feeling unnecessary and negatively over the top. From that, I would never get to the place where I’d tell them, “Hey, just ignore it. It’s only a couple hundred posts. Or hey, you only got death threats for a few months. Just let it go buddy.” It is easy for you or others to say just look the other way.

Also, most people on here I’d say aren’t teenagers where they only have an online life. Dealing with whatever irl stuff they have, then come online to get harassed or criticized over the top? Unneeded in my opinion. You can color it however you want saying it’s only criticism or someone is just being “honest” (which sometimes I’d say is a codeword for excusing rudeness), which I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with that point btw, but one also shouldn’t disagree or be surprised when it is those exact things that alienate someone.

I don’t think you or anyone else would hit someone with a stick a dozen times or so and expect them to take a few hundred more hits. And then wonder what their problem is when they run away. I don’t know where it’s gleaned that I am sucking up to Nili. I’ve never watched Nili nor do I actually disagree with some of the things that have been said about him.

Otherwise, I happen to remember your username a little too well. Not that I want to be rude to you (I actually don’t), but I find it weird you use the word immaturity or childish about someone else when I believe you were one of the group of 4 or so that bashed Nili for around a month over the coi (others were 2-4). Then a few months ago, you told Tocaraca to ‘f off’ which was one of the first deleted messages I saw in awhile.

Yes, I’m very aware of Philippe. Me and him have some history. He actually trolled me for a few years collectively.

Regarding Nili’s behavior and comments about what he’s done, I think you misunderstand me a bit. Like I mentioned above, I don’t disagree with some of the things that have been said. I’m actually in some agreement. What I agree with Nili however, was that by his response he was more tired of the forums in general (or at least my impression) to which I’d be on that side as well. Pros even going back 10 years or more have mentioned stuff like it as well. Even some casters past few years have said same. It is all the same thing more or less. Doubt they want to be named and I don’t believe in randomly bringing them into it. I’m sure others remember a little at least.
