General Rules
  • All games must be played in the Voobly Tournament Lobby, on the VCOM Ladder. Teams must wait for a maximum of 30 minutes before AW will be awarded.
  • All recorded games MUST be renamed and uploaded onto aoczone in the recorded games forum viewforum.php?f=1224.
    Renamed like so "ItD R1 robo+friends (vs) Pip and co g1"
    You MUST also post the links to the Captains Mode Drafts within the recorded games post. If for some reason the links don't work you must type out what the order of bans/picks were.
  • No Smurfing, players must sign up on their most well known accounts. Failure to do so will result in DQ for their team and possible bans from future CM tournaments.
  • Games must be restored in the case of a drop.
  • Teams will be seeded based on the average tg rating of the 3 Highest rated players, at the time sign ups close (28 February)


Gaming Rules

  • Round 1 - Bo3
    Round 2 - Bo3
    Semi Finals - Bo5
    Final Bo5
  • Every game will use Captains Mode using the hidden option.

    G1 - Each team will have 1 non-hidden global ban (which bans the civ from either teams usage), then 1 hidden pick each and a reveal, another global ban each, then 1 hidden pick and reveal, and a final hidden pick and reveal.
    G2-5 - Each team will ban 1 civ, then pick 1 civ, then ban another civ and pick another civ, then ban another civ and pick their final civ. Every pick and ban is hidden until the reveal step.

  • Restarts: Teams have 1 RE in each set of games including the Final (and 3rd place match). REs must be called before 1:30 minutes of game time.
  • Bugged maps: If a map is bugged then a team may ask for a bugged RE before 1:30 minutes of in game time. Bugged maps are defined as; Any of your standard sheep ( 8 ), boar ( 2 ) or deer ( 3/4 ) not able to be eaten by vils, berries ( 6 ) with 4 or less sides of berries free to be eaten, a main gold mine (the 7 tile gold) with 4 or less sides of gold free to mine, a main stone mine (the 5 stone mine) with 4 or less of stone free to mine. Secondary golds/stones or extra patches of deer/boar are not effected by this rule.

17-feb Re timing reduced to 1:30, as per peoples suggestions, and number of re's reduced to 1 for all sets, and Final and 3rd place reduced to bo5.

18-feb Changed Draft order for G1 of each set, and reduced game difficulty setting to Easiest.

On Bf, 3 minutes is too fast to decide, many vil fight will still be in process and u cant really decide if you lost or won by 3 minutes...
None the less you dont have time to check the time if its 2:59 or 3:01
On BF it could be even 6 minutes s

That's the point, people should be using re to deal with a bad map, ie. bad trade line, forward golds/stones etc. not to punish the other team for having a good vil fight while trying to get a forward wall that may be a part of their strategy.

I guess vill war shouldn't be a reason to call re. Maybe that is the point. I mean vill wars are part of the game in BF. Probably 3 minutes is more than enough considering that. You shouldn't be able to call a restart because your opponent kicked your a*s and you lost 2 vills to nothing...

1 question about bugged maps: i have seen a map once where the main gold of a player was not blocked, but it generated on the enemy side of the choke. What would happen here?

A number of people have asked about increasing the teams to 32, and pushing back every round by a week.

I'm open to doing this, if we can get closer to 32 teams then 16, ie. get over the 24 team mark at a minimum, as I would like to avoid having a lot of first round byes.

sounds like a nice tourney!

if you want to prevent re's because of lost vill fights/lost "wall-fights" then i think 3 minutes are still to much ... maybe 1:30 would be better (thats still enough to call a re because of bad map, but not enough to wait how the villfights/walls play out bevore calling the re ...

Pedro is right, map is explored, so bugged/very unfair map can be seen pretty fast. At 3 minutes the vills/wall fights are alrdy busy for quite a while.

OK Thanks for explaining, in that case i agree with Pedro...
Also re because of bugged map can be called within first 10 seconds, because of explored map...
Maybe there could be pause at the start to look at the map and call it, so we dont loose time

another thing i just saw: the finals beeing bo7 seems quite a lot to me ... i mean everyone that plays in this tourney prolly likes to play black forest, but potentially 7 BF games in a row can be pretty hard ...

IMO there should only be restarts due to bugged resources. Having restarts available on BF means that people can try for very forward walls and just call re if they couldn't get them/lost a vill war. What people consider a "bad" map in BF is usually the kind of map that offers the most amount of strategies and allows for better team play.

Also, I would suggest for the later stages of the tournament to have game 1 with random civs for every player, and then switching those civs between the teams for game 2. A huge part of BF is to know how to play the worse imp civs and it would be interesting to see what each team does.

i think restarts are totally unnecassary for a "fun" tournament. my worst memories for aoc are the 3 restarts @ that LN-tourney (with 50k $ price at least). in some matches i did like 1hour nothing else than restarting, gb because of bugged maps or restoring a 2mingame.

Bugged map - gb. no bugged map - play. u could think about calling a 3v1-corner as bugged map (like on michi), but would need a good definition...

As long as the gold itself isnt trapped then the map is playable. Use your re, or go for vil fights/fuedal fights etc.

Something else: what about "easiest" as diffculty instead of "standart", since with easiest you get less wolves and they have a smaller LOS, which allows you to sneak more often/easily. This again increases the possiblity of crazy rushes/games. What do you think?

about using easiest difficulty the idea does appeal to me. Will consider it more thoroughly.
