I signed up for the tournament of only women of Age of Empires (Gbeto Cup)

As you can see in the signs up I was one of the first to do it. At ANY moment the organizer told me to give “proof” that I am actually a girl. It actually says: “We are going to trust that all the participant are females”

Last night the organizer communicate the brackets

For my surprise I wasn’t there so I asked kindly the reason.

I sent her a private message also

“Hi how are you? I was one of the first ones to signing up for the tourney but I don appear in the brackets. Whats up whit that?”

There was no response at ALL from her.

Today 2 persons commented something AFTER my last comment

And she in fact answered to them, so she in deed ignored me.

So I commented in the post again.

Then she writes this

So I wrote a private message to ImRiver (I think that he also is organizing the tourney) because that Magui wasn’t helping at all, kicked me out without giving any explanation.

“Hi I am not sure If you part of the organization of the tourney, but I signed up (one of the first ones in fact) and I am out of the brackets, yesterday I commented in the post, and got no answer, I sent a private message to Magui, and she ignored me, today I see that she answered some comments AFTER that mine, so I wrote back y and she writes “Remember: the organization reserves the right of deny the inscription at any sign of breaking the spirit of the tournament. "

It doesnt any sense, i didnt have any bad behaviour and i dont know what she means exactly. She left me out without any type of reason.

So I researched and found out her instagram and message her in there

“Hi I am Annie98 from Voobly and Angie98 in AoEZone. I was one of the firsts ons in signing up in the gbeto cup, but it seems that I didn’t see my nick in the brackets. I asked you numerous times and never answered me directly, just wrote that whoever that doesn’t acts with the spirit of the tourney would be disqualified, but I didn’t do anything that could implied that, just signed up y was anxious for the tourney to start. I write you from instagram so you can give me an explanation more specific. Thanks”

She: “ So sorry. I am going to modify the brackets and add another girl more so the number of the participants its even”

Me: “Ok thanks!”

She: Ey! I was talking with the organization and we have a problem because the brackets are ready and the streamers/players were already informed. Anyway, the idea is that in a few months there will be a second edition of the tourney and you are welcome. I hope that you understand that it was difficult to manage the verification of the players. Again, sory.

She: Anyway, we can compensate the mistake making you entry the second round the next tourney

Me: It super unfair because I was literally one of the first ones to signing up and was waitin. The mistake was yours for bad management, if anyones should be out and putting me back, should be the last one that registered, since I have been waiting from the beginning, because even you are in the tourney and I am out anyways.

Me: I saw that you modified the brackets for “Ofelia” TODAY less than 3 hours again…

Me: "…and I don’t understand why cant you do the same with if it is basically the same problem, your mistake."

She read the messages and didn’t answer at all. Then she commented this in the post:

That guy is a follower from her, so it is one of 2 options: She asked him to follow me to see my other photos (I have my instagram in private) or he is a stalker that saw the captures and searched me, that was the one thing that I wanted to avoid

Again no response at all from her. They tourney literally starts today. What am I supposed to do? Still waiting? I gave a lot of explanation, i didn’t see the other girls giving all these type of reasons.

I am a very shy girl that doesn like to expose herself in internet generally, because as I said before, I had bad experiences in internet, specially in an argentinian web site called Taringa, in the past.

I don’t understand why I have to prove that I am a girl. Thinking that girls don’t know how to play videogames is a very machist thing to say. I don’t have any problem to take a photo with a sign with my nickname or “gbeto cup” or anything. But in a private way with the organizer. I want to avoid the stupid men saying things like “nice tits” “pretty face wanna suck my ****?”or things like that I had enough of that bullshit.

I don’t understand what is the problem with that organizer Magui, but I hope that all the other users can see how unfair was all of this, because some will talk without knowing nothing. I wanted just to get fun in this tourney and it resulted in a shity experience. And also wasted all my day in this.

Sotry to hear that. Not sure what caused you being left out of the bracket in the beginning (whether it was a deliberate choice or an honest mistake) but I can understand it feels shitty for you.

I can see why an account with zero games could cause suspicion with respect to being a smurf, however I can’t see why someone would put in that amount of work if they were just a smurf. I hope you’ll still find a solution

At any place of the post of the tourney specify a minimum or maximum of games played or ELO ratings. I first gave and told the organizer all the "suspicious things" in a private way, but she doenst give any answer.

If there was any "suspicious" they should told me at the first moment, not kicked me out without telling and ignoring me

I couldn't care less if you don't have a profile Photo, but dont confuse things here. It's a 300 U$D prizepool tourney, you can't just sign up with a super shady account, with one game played on match-stats where you clearly know how to play.

We will accept your sign-up if you immediatly give us the account that you actually use to play in less than an hour. I mean, the seedings are totally random and you literally have 18xx playing vs 14xx in the first round, what does it matter if this girl knows how to play (aka get the OP wood up) because her boyfriend taught her, as she said? 11 most of the accounts signed up have very few games played and vague ~1600 ratings.

Yeap, her people from the organization (including 90% of donors) know personally ,and she is really new to the game. So there's real evidence that she is not a Smurf. About Angie, there just is absolutely nothing. Not a single friend / person that can confirm her story. So she has to work with other evidence, like for example recorded games.
I don't think that's too mcuh to ask honestly, it's literally 4 minutes of uploading recs and done

If this is such a problem for the organization, why hasn't this been dealt with days ago, since she was one of the first to sign up? magui even liked her sign up post, didn't feel the need to check anything then? Why wait until the brackets are published and just leave her out without saying anything?

I only have the games I practiced with random people (I played them unrated so it doesn’t show in my profile and the other competitors couldn’t download the rec and see my strategy), because as I said before, no sense to play against my bf the tourney maps if he already knows (because he helped me to think) my strategy. Because one thing is to not play too much, other completely different is to play much, but want to act as if you don't, and so, try to deceive other participants. Also, this is the first tourney Magui is hosting, so it's normal that some stuff is missing, she certainly didn't expect it to grow this big!

It does matter that participants lie to the administration and we do not want that in our tourney, that is more of a personal thing. We would like people to be transparent and clear about their intentions. Signing up to a money tourney with a fake / smurf account is not a very good sign.

Sounds great. Provide me a solid amount of them privately (through PM ) and I will accept your sign-Up . Actually so that you don't lose time, just send me your last 50 recorded games if you want instead (it's the .mgz files that come in savegame folder . I think you know this, but just in case)

I was sceptical until now but this to me is a "proof" it's all made up. Which casual player in the world goes to the correct folder to delete the recordings of aoe games because he/she "doesnt see a use for them on his/her PC". How convenient she can only provide games vs random people (which ofc her bf played) but not games vs him (bc they don't actually exist). That's kinda like "I don't have homework because my cat ate the paper I wrote it on". Obviously it wouldn't stand in court but that's my 2 cents.

Besides that I'm glad a tournament like this is organized and I was actually very surprised at the amount of girls signing up (so there must be even more just playing it on voobly). So good luck to all!
