I just heard about this, a big thanks for all those who made it rated, and especially Genette who's efforts helped for this to even become a possibility.
It shouldnt be thought of as memorising a set of changes. Most of the changes are rather minor tweaks which dont rule out any aoc dominant strategies. It just gives you more options to play with. One of the best times in any patch's development is when it first rolls out, since everything is not explored and people who are creative enough will try out new possibilities. And these possibilities are endless, since we have tried our best to make it so that all 18 civs are more or less competitive with each other.
IMO, it is better to start trying out something in its completeness rather than test a half-patch that only has a few changes, just because it is 'hard to learn'. It is actually not hard to learn, and this learning/testing stage can lead to lead to a lot of fun.
The idea is not to force this on people.The problem is, with 70 balance changes all at once it's too much to deal with/ remember especially when players are so used to standard aoc.
