Age 2 DE had 8600 different players playing a ranked 1v1 in the last 18 hours. In the last 5 days 22000 different players have played a ranked aoe 2 de game.

I thought numbers would be lower for both games, with summer in europe.

They added fully remappable hotkeys now if someone cares. You can put everything almost like aoe2.
I played some games for the first time since launch and the game is fun. Now you aren't forced to play really shitty maps also. I feel It's slower than aoe2 but it's interesting how they somehow managed to sort of balance civs that are so different.
Also at a glance you can feel how much better aoe2 could be if they really wanted to make it better.
Just imagine an AoE 2 AAA edition.

Game is definitely getting better compared to release but it's too slow, too little changes compared to what was needed.

I would be surprised if aoe4 regains its player base to even December levels.

Too many placement matches / ladders. I was confused by the new ranked ladder so I just went quick match and still wrecking noobs in games that take a long time. Probably won't be bothered to play the full 10+ ranked games (I originally already did with a gamepass but now I have the full version) to get even matches for however long the ranked season lasts though.

If hotkeys are modifiable now maybe I could make it so rotating my view is disabled. That would make it a lot better.

May have to give aoe4 another try but we'll see how long that lasts!

Well the game isn't recovering despite some opinions, in fact it keeps falling in playerbase, even with the secret x10 playerbase on pc game pass and more than half million usd thrown since release..

I just went above last month and lower than 2 months ago so I guess you are right, seems temporary. We will see trend in couple of months.

AoE4 might not be explicitly growing, but it definitely seems to have stabilized with a reasonably sized player base.
AoE3 is in a similar place, and has a really wonderful competitive community
