agree with u 100% on thatDM players deserve just as much credit for being good as RM players does, just as CS players does, it's all a different genre of AOC.
The only RM players who are significantly good at DM are Jordan and Viper, who both happen to be at the top of the RM food-chain. Everybody else is nothing special .
But the hard and harsh truth is that if you have fully functioning brain that can understand how patterns of gameplay work (decision making, effect of strategy A over B, results of doing this and that move, gambles, countering, map reading, analyzing what opponent is doing or how he plays gameplay wise etc) combined with a lot of practice to perfect basic key attributes such as speed, hotkeys, unit control, micro, macro and learning initial setups, defeating the fear of losing (not caring about points and just playing to get better) than you will achieve success, whether you're playing RM (which requires all of the above at different time age), deathmatch (which require all of the above at post imperial) or CS (which requires some of the above on a lot of different maps that always differs) all you need is time (to practice) or a brain willing to learn.
There is nothing special about getting good at aoc. Literally nothing..
I hope someday i'll get ur point by watching DM games. Most of DM games I sew it was about raiding the right place at right moment, jidba knows it better than anyone, but, believe me, it's the only point on a DM game, of course you need to have speed otherwise you'd be dead.
About RM, lets imagine an Archipelago Huns war: You are connected with your enemy, both docks aren't near but aren't far, you see your enemy has both foward gold but if you lose water he can raid your eco pretty well with boats, what would you do?
omfg... ChrisT... you could do a BIGASS favor to the newbs playing DM... please write a text(a little longer than the text above) about DM... about its start... some characteristics about civs.. some build orders and stuff like that..please? i wud become gay and be ur sex slave for life if you'd do that

I don't think one game especially in hun war means anything really...anyone can win one game in hun war....they should atleast do a best of five
Christ has already done so, i think it was called DM guide by Love Cookies.
Thank you guys for having such a careful, intelligent and not flame-based discussion regarding DM. I feel that most of this discussion had a lot of merits, both from the RM and DM perspective.
As it comes to becoming good in AoC being nothing special Christ, I think you can argue the same point for nearly anything that requires talent in life. Talent is achieved through practice, just like talent in AoC or in sports.
