Aoe4 will be real sport when it is completed doping and match fixing too. Almost there. Then we will be in Olympics.
It was related to a betting site for AOE4 N4C tournament. What was the video? Says it has been made private
Why did it get deleted? Betting on E-Sports is common in plenty of placesEGC promoting an e-sports gambling website where you can bet on AoE4 outcomes.
Can you bet on how many players it will have in 6 months?EGC promoting an e-sports gambling website where you can bet on AoE4 outcomes.

-The original Golden League post was locked. That video is worth discussing but what does it have to do with Hera leaving aoe?
I used to run betting for AoE3 and it was a lot of fun, got a lot of participation. The key is having no buy-in. We had small prizes but it didn't cost anything to participate. That lowers the stakes, but in the end I don't think it hurt participation at all. It just ended up being a fun side-event.I've many times thought how fun it would be to have bettings for AoE. Still, I'm pretty sure it would intoxicate the game so much it would no more be the same. If the video is what is said to be it'd be really concerning, it is not though, since AoE4 is almost dead.
Of course all these betting games add fun for the viewer and are welcome. I'm talking on how real-money betting through the big brands would corrupt the scene. I can see it work in esports, people even bet on virtual sports and football game simulations. As for the age limit, I've known tons of minors betting either through online platforms (using a grown man's credentials) or through betting stores.I used to run betting for AoE3 and it was a lot of fun, got a lot of participation. Real money gambling doesn't really work for e-sports imo, simply due to how exclusive it is. There are way too many <18 year olds you'd be excluding.
I've wanted to build a more fully-featured web-based betting platform (where you play for betting ELO, not money) for all of the AoE games for a while, but I can never get myself to really start working on it because it's just too much work. I think it has the potential to really enrich the viewing experience though
If there is an official betting site, one could make the betting pool proportionate to the price pool. As in: You pay 10$ to participate, in guessing all tournament results, and you will receive a payout proportional to how many results you get correct, that cannot exceed the tournament winner's payout.Having seen what betting does to sports, especially where players/teams are on low or unstable income (see, for example, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Pakistan in cricket, various lower ranked tennis players, snooker, and many more), I strongly dislike the idea of introducing it to an arena like AoE. Many players are not earning particularly large amounts outside a handful towards the top, so the temptation would be significant, and monitoring it would be nigh on impossible.
Well we could be betting on Hera's performance in Golden League (he has said that he will participate), so it is still Hera relatedIf you guys keep talking about bets, they are gonna close this thread too claiming it is not related Hera. Better to move AOE4 thread.
You'd have no money left after failing to guess a single player during HC4Aoe2 bettings would be the only ones that I could actually not lose money on
why not open a new thread tho? There might be people out there who don't care about hera but would care about that other unrelated issue, but won't know about it because it's in a thread about hera-The original Golden League post was locked.
-This was the last aoe4 related post I read at the time.
exactly like this thread, it was being discussed elsewhere in other topics, but has had far more traffic once a specific thread was started on the topicwhy not open a new thread tho?
