Equally, AoCZone has a lot of people who talk about the game without playing it who like to discuss and are in favour of balance. I'm sure if you polled people who played AoC in MS, you would have an even lower % for the patches.
Don't be fooled by numbers like "100 changes". Most of them are small adjustments to bonuses or costs and none of them turns the game upside down. You have to consider that a change like moving stonewalls to castle age is bigger in how much it changes the game than maybe upto 20 small changes put together. It's a nice try to balance the game; but with like 100 changes you change the game too much...
If it would be just some minor stuff like a small bonus for korea, fire ships a bit faster and more resistant to galleys and maybe boosting some rarely used units (missionaries, longboats, turtles); and if needed a few bugs
But imo it's kinda too much; sry Carlos
Btw: why can't you work together Zero and Carlos? Is it necessary to make 2 balance patches?
Don not bring up the stupid balance patch again. Sandyman would be throwing up at such a blasphemy if he knew what was going on. Nobody wants to be part of these "balance" patches
Oh good Lord no, have you ever even seen phillipe play??Maybe Phillip can pick up the torch.
Yo_Dan got it. <3
I shouldn't put my hands of any of the changes, 1k9 Steam is not enough. The day I'll get 1k8 Voobly maybe I'll ask Carlos, but by that time the patch will already be default :3
A thing I repeatedly thought when reading balance patch notes was that maybe not all changes should be noted down. I'd let stuff like attack frame delays and 2-3% speed changes go undisclosed, to make the patch look less invasive and give people less reasons to pick on it.Don't be fooled by numbers like "100 changes". I feel that making small changes to the game so that players slowly get accustomed to the changes and are willing to gradually accept a much larger set of changes over time is a great idea, in theory, but in practice not so much. The idea works but much too slowly and will require a lot more time to implement...kinetics of the solution implementation may lead to rejection of the endeavor.
I think it's those peoples' perception that needs to change, hope they realise most of the changes aren't of a big magnitude. I will definitely write down each and every tiny thing that's changed so people can know.
I would vote for change balance through voobly update. It's not between the choices . Either a one time thing or an iterative approach, doesn't matter to me. It could be done as part of the userpatch update if done as a not-so frequent update.

(for example it intentionally doesn't fix the fervor bug because it would affect game balance)
Do you just mean Voobly could apply it automatically together with the userpatch or that the userpatch should incorporate the balance changes? The latter wouldn't happen because the Userpatch intentionally doesn't change the game balance in any form (for example it intentionally doesn't fix the fervor bug because it would affect game balance). The former is possible though (in theory).

I would leave out userpatch ppl, if they want to keep the patch that way.
I meant more like a voobly version of the userpatch (closer to the former). So balance patch doesn't show up as a mod that is enabled by default, but a patch version (like 1.0c or 1.4). For example 1.4-balance.
This community is as stubborn as a mule, I can't help but see the Balance of Power event being a push of players to try the patch and then as soon as it's over they fall back to the standard 1.4RC again. Which is a shame... and also why we are trying to take an alternate approach with Balance Tweaker
