The last bo21 between those two players was great, it was over three days and it was really close (even though score was pretty much in favour of Viper with 11-6 (?) )
I remember that amazing game on those islands with the crossing in the middle (don't judge me, I don't know the mapname 11), where no wood left, Viper was able to slowly beat Daut .
I think the gap has widened since then, Daut isn't that good anymore and maybe Viper has become even stronger.
The extension to a bo37, when the 11-2 was clear is fine for me, the whole thing was decided after it was 7-2 anyway.
In the end this wasn't only a competition, but entertainment.
I truly want to thank Matt for his contribution to the Game
Turks are good on Arena, Saracens can be viable in BF like TG settings, same for Teutons. Persians is still a decent TG pick and Khmer is one of the strongest Pocket TG Picks.I am also sad, that after multiple years this game exists, a lot of statistics and expertise. That there are still civs that will never ever get picked. I mean think about it. If i recall it correctly Khmers, Portoguese, Saracens, Turks, EVEN persians and teutons werent picked and will very likely ever be picked in future tournaments
But all of them should be viabled to be picked, no matter if its 1v1 or TG, every civ needs one "indicator" which makes this civ. Berber camel archers, Mayans Eagles, Aztec monks, Briton archers, every civ needs to have some advantage of another and vise versia to stand a chance. Besides that a few of these civ arent even picked in TG over the classical most picked civsTurks are good on Arena, Saracens can be viable in BF like TG settings, same for Teutons. Persians is still a decent TG pick and Khmer is one of the strongest Pocket TG Picks.
Portuguese is a must in TG water and viable on water maps if italians and japanese is out of the pickture.
Not every Civ is good for 1v1 after all ...
Because thats what balance is about, dont get me wrong. Water maps are a diffrent story. Civs can be a bit below the average strength of all civs if they have a water bonusWhy should all civs be viable in every situation?
don't forget DraCoNT for Arena ..How about this: make a "Viper vs the World" type show-match, where you give him 5 opponents and they can decide who's gonna play the Viper depending on the map. Lets say Lierrey plays Ara, Yo plays nomad, Mbl plays something else etc. Obv Viper should still win since he's the best at pretty much all the maps but this way you minimize other top players' "weaknesses" such as somebody might not be that great on water maps. Suggested opponents should kind of complement each other (example: take Fire for islands) Also it would have to be played in one sitting so atleast Viper gets more tired than his opponents towards the end. BO11 could work. Maybe make the prizepool such that if the opponents win they get to split more total prizemoney between themselves.
This is not what balance is about ...Because thats what balance is about, dont get me wrong. Water maps are a diffrent story. Civs can be a bit below the average strength of all civs if they have a water bonus
Yeah it can be like this, but every civ should be viable on water maps aswell, by simply decreasing water bonuses to a minimum, while slightly leaving that civ behind on land maps, which isnt the case for Italians and Vikings tho, Portoguese and Berber naval bonuses are very small, i like it, but they could still be smaller and Portoguese land bonuses betterThis is not what balance is about ...
I follow a DotA 2 and LOL a little bit recently.
There are champions that you can only pick in very specific situations.
It's the same for aoe, but unlike those games aoe has a lot of different maps, who decide which civs are viable.
As If thats the only problem in WK water balance...How about nerfing shipwright for better water balance? Civs without shipwright have 0 chance against a shipwright civ on a water map
It's a problem with all water balance, AoC or WK or whatever. The problem with WK water balance for me is not the "balance" aspect, the problem is that patrolling fires and exploding some ships is far less fun than galley vs galley microAs If thats the only problem in WK water balance...
The fact that Demolition ships are countered by this

is for my part, not understandable - and they cannot even one shot fire ships
