Re: Spectator Dashboard 2 (latest 2.10)
This doesn't happen when watching recs, only when spectating games on voobly live. And it doesn't always happen, only sometimes. Usually, everything works fine. I'll take a screenshot next time it happens. Everything else displays fine, but three metrics...
Re: Spectator Dashboard 2 (latest 2.10)
Sometimes when I spec a game, it doesn't show the ratings. When it doesn't, it also fails to show the researches as they come. Is this a problem on my end?
Just mentioning a way to test out late imperial on water. You want no rush islands? Or 1,000 population Europe?
Because the basic assumptions of the question imply that late imperial with tons of resources has been achieved. The only way to test these theories is to play map types where such...
Elite Cataphracts have only 5 pierce armor, meaning they die to anything massed with a pierce attack. Furthermore, they lose to paladins. They are strong against infantry, camel units, and siege that isn't massed scorpions. Strong, yes, but not enough to justify calling them the best late game...
The main reason, I think, that Mongols are winning, is that those voting are thinking only of Arabia, or have just seen tons of expert recs where Mongols excel in imperial age and think they are virtually uncounterable.
I voted Koreans, because in terms of pure POWER they are even harder to...
Re: GigaRandom Map Pack
Sorry, I should have recorded the game; it was LAN, Forgotten Empires, and forgot to record the game.
I will record from now on, and if it comes up again, I will at least try to remember to take a screenshot.
I assume it must be quite rare if I am the first to bring it...
Re: GigaRandom Map Pack
Quick note for a bug fix: I had one map (but only one out of all my plays of this) where everyone just spawned with a scout/eagle and nothing else.
Let's see:
Heavy Camels
Elite Mamelukes
Halberdiers
Elite Teutonic Knights
Elite War Elephants
Elite Berserks (with chieftans)
Elite Genoese Crossbowmen
And Elite Mangudai don't exactly tear through paladins. They can take them down when massed and properly micromanaged, but they do 5 damage a...
I'm going to go against the grain of everyone else here and suggest you start with Vikings.
Huns and Mayans are the easiest to start with, no doubt, but it can be hard to transition to other civilizations later. Especially from Huns. With Mayans as a first civilization, you won't know where...
It might be interesting to showcase the fact that buildings like barracks or archery ranges can themselves attack adjacent buildings. This is most noticeable if an opponent walls off your forward; you can slowly but surely break free by brute building force alone. It's slow; one damage every...
Some people continue to refuse recognition that gameranger exists. Also, lan games.
Anyway, the changes mentioned would have farther reaching implications than they might at first seem. Starting with a house would change Mayans drastically, for example. Chinese would be unable to compete early...
Basically, he should have said least predictable. His point is that Hun wars almost always come down to cavalry archer wars in the castle age, meaning you know what to expect right away. Mayans will do archers or drush followed by FC and plumed archers. Aztecs will do 5-militia drush followed by...
Heavy cavalry archers in late imperial for raiding trade are a different story from cavalry archers in castle age. By late imperial, you probably have an economy to support tons of marauders, where in castle age they are usually too expensive to be worth it. I generally do cavalry archers only...
Or one person made 30 accounts ;)
Goth champions nine times out of ten. Sure, Viking or Celt champions are better against archers, but huskarls are even better, and who counters archers with champions anyway?
For doing what champions do, which is flooding into a town, killing stuff, and razing...
It is not true that "almost anything the Mongol does will be better." Rams will do it, and very well, but anything the Mongol does that does NOT involve rams will die to Britons.
Britons best bet is to be faster than Mongols and rush them to death before Mongols reach post imperial. If it...
Siege onager is for late imperial, arbalests are for early-mid imperial. By the time siege onagers appear, arbalests are mostly obsolete in most situations.
Vikings have an excellent fast imperial on both open and closed maps. I would say #3 on open, after mesos, and #3 on closed maps, after...
