There were, in my opinion, three types of simonsan posts - 1) the analytical, game-oriented ones (which were usually quite good and had numbers to back them up); 2) the ideological/political ones, which were sometimes worded like something out of an inquisition tribunal, were often evidence free or based in shoddy press articles/ultra-ideologised 'research', and often repeated the same point over and over and over again to hammer it in, but without ever producing the susbstance an attentive reader would expect; 3) closely linked to the previous type, we had the "I love Nili/I love Viper" ones, where Nili and Viper were always right even when doing two different, contradictory things. Also if someone else did something contrary to simonsan's Weltanschauung he would criticise them to no end, but when one of these people who he held to be paragons of virtue did the same thing, he would suddenly try his best to put a positive spin on things. In truth, I do not believe he did it out of malice or dishonesty, but as a way to convince himself that his trust was not misplaced and his views were still correct.Well Simonsan also generally backed up his posts with pretty solid data (Including building the API that finally showed us the GamePass users on the franchise)
Needless to say I miss the first kind of posts but can do without the other two. A bit ironically perhaps, I always got the impression that I could broadly agree with his political goals/views, but I heavily disagreed with his means and his way to go about his business (i.e. heavy-handed proselytism) on aoezone, or to go about that business on aoezone at all. It should also go without saying that I'd take simonsan over lylyth any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
