I suspect Microsoft's in-house legal team will feel rather different if this comes to their attention. The truth is, we've been remarkably fortunate about how Voobly/WK has been allowed to flourish despite being colorably a competitor with an existing Microsoft product. Putting up a website that tries to stealthily take advantage of the "AOE2 DE" label is a great way to have that charitable treatment disappear.
Thanks for the laughs
Said someone regularly giving health advice as well as telling microsoft the upside of open sourcing.People giving other people law advices that probably are in close contact with lawyers to do what they do. Or explaining ICANN to a group of people where some of them are members of CCC. Aoezone, gimme more. :-D
Not surprised you cant distinguish the difference between "on-topic" and "off-topic" with the post.Surprised you are not more bothered by RichNixon's post. 429 words, 2333 characters (491 and 2718 if you count the footnote) is an awful lot. Thought you would be up in arms about it really.
Do you want to keep on trolling and flaming or do you have anything constructive to say?Said someone regularly giving health advice as well as telling microsoft the upside of open sourcing.

No you make it very easy to distinguish. Things are "on-topic" when you like what they say and "off-topic" when you don't.Not surprised you cant distinguish the difference between "on-topic" and "off-topic" with the post.
Nah, theres no need to share your own thought process here.No you make it very easy to distinguish. Things are "on-topic" when you like what they say and "off-topic" when you don't.
blubb
KK let me baby sit you"Aoezone, gimme more.", you might have misunderstood a bit the term "gimme more". But I appreciate the "effort".
Also you are capable of saying this in a straight facePeople giving other people law advices that probably are in close contact with lawyers to do what they do. Or explaining ICANN to a group of people where some of them are members of CCC. Aoezone, gimme more. :-D

And see what youve replied, rant about capitalism, rant about marketing, rant about business hierarchy; but literally nothing related to RBW3, let it be map pool / time limit / game mode / qualifier / seeding / etc.Could you please enlighten me as to what these isolated problems are that need to be addressed & which game settings need to change? From what I remember RBW2 was quite a success and was quite well received.Man I want to get excited but it's just so hard to anymore. And reading the style this announcement was written in does not lend a lot of confidence about how isolated the problems are either. Seems a little insulting to the readerbase here to not address the game settings changes from the original RBE, that is for sure.
Have you ever been trying to talk to Microsoft?
Yes, we did. The Microsoft people were very polite and we used to talk a lot in the past, the XBox people however have tried to avoid us at all costs. A popular quote from a XBox Manager: “There is no political will to bring back the old MSN Gaming Zone or use a Zone-like client.” In other words: “We are not willing to admit, that the closure of the MSN Gaming Zone in 2006 was the biggest mistake ever.” Fun fact: Microsoft was offered to acquire Voobly.

Since you bought DE, in this example you would be a friend of the deranged mother who's helping her keep the custody. And you did this full knowing what you were doing. I assure you there are people who didn't agree with the acts of Microsoft nor with the state of DE on release so they didn't give them money for it. You on the other hand kept fueling the beating of the defenseless child. Time to place the accusatory focus on yourself for once. They can sue the **** out of the creator as they want. We will just show the judges how ****ed up Microsoft is and their way of "Developing the game". Any reasonable judge would allow it as they would allow a caring dad (WK DE, Userpatch, Voobly) to get custody right when it was in the arms of a crazy mother that beat its child (metaphor for Microsoft "developing" the game and milking the cashcow)

Typical Voobly anti-MS/whiney-style, absolutely nothing surprising if you've been around these past couple of years. And back to the topic
This bit looks SUPER childish in my eyes
Ive read plenty of those, just (kinda) surprised someones still acting this way on a new launched site after all these years 11Typical Voobly anti-MS/whiney-style, absolutely nothing surprising if you've been around these past couple of years.
It's far from their worst public annoncements.
With that said, I don't hold DE in high praise either. It seems the further away in time a civilization is from The Age of Kings, the more over-the-top their bonuses get. In a bad way.

So in reality the actual people making a change aren't here giving ethics lessons every single day on how to hate Microsoft appropriately.
Snarkily flaming people who were giving reasonable information, who mostly seemed to be doing so out of good intentions.
Then saying this 4 comments bellow
@HongeyKong The only major difference between my post and RichNixon's post is that I wrote something criticizing DE whereas RichNixon wrote something criticizing someone making a mod that you perceive as critical of DE so I am not sure who you are trying to fool.
Always siding with the instigator.
They absolutely can. This is routine. If your URL infringes on a trademark, you can't get out of infringing IP because "ICANN let me do it". (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandjacking , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cybersquatting , etc.) Additionally, given that this same user has claimed that copying a digital image is not infringing on copyright since anybody can just create it by piecing it together again, I would not put much trust in their legal counsel, whoever it may be. I do not think this is insulting, it is just the facts. The guy wrote a 429 word post but did not bother to note that what he was responding to was @Pancrol telling me that MS could not force them to rename their website because of how domain name rights work. Even if it is from good intentions it seems a little insulting to assume that there has been no consideration of the legal risks.

And please do not assume that I am just replying because I dislike the people involved. I like Voobly. That's why I think it is a bad idea to antagonise Microsoft, because it just increases the chance of Voobly going down. That's my concern here.
