So, I have a machine that is on the lower-end, it's a notebook with i7-6500U, 8gb ram ddr4, integrated graphics, so I know it's not a gaming computer and I can't afford one. I have everything on low/off, I know how to setup things so my machine is clean and properly configured. If I have everything on low/off, shouldn't the game basically work just like the 1999 version? Which quality-of-life improvement would actually eat more resources? The new graphics shouldn't be the only reasonable impact on performance? And it shouldn't impact me given that I don't use shaders, shadows, fancy water and whatever?
How would MQ, shift-clicking and the other (very welcome in my opinion) additions make the game meaningfully need more power to run?
Do others here experience the same problem and feel really sad that they can't play a smooth game anymore just because they can't afford a gaming computer? If yes, can you regularly complain about it on the official forums ( https://forums.ageofempires.com/c/age-of-empires-ii/104 ) ?
My goal is to have an army of 100 complainers that regularly complain, so maybe we can get something changed. I assume they would claim that DE have improved unit AI/pathfinding and those are eating more resources, but as everyone knows the mechanics are different now but are not actually better, so they should have a good explanation for why the game can't run on a low-end machine and provide a way for everyone to play the game I would argue. Can I have some support for this cause?
Back then (in 2004) 2ghz CPU and 256mb ram could run the game with perfect performance on 4v4, now 2.5ghz CPU with 8gb ram can't run it properly? 11
Can't they just allow me to turn off whatever ""feature"" ****ed this up? Are others willing to be vocal on their forums regularly about a trillion dollar company selling the same game for the 5th time or so, making it use a lot more resources and unplayable for part of the community?
