5. Ending Notes
Such a post can only refer to a small selection of the universe of AoCZone. This makes it subjective. So in the same way like last year, I'd like to name some AoCZone personalities of 2015 I personally care about:
1. Genette: It made many people sad when Memb and Katsuni resigned as VooblyOfficial streamers because of the WSVG Maldives finals incidents. I see one big loss more in the context of this debacle, and it hurts me inside that I am seemingly the first person who publicly cries about the absence of Genette. The guy who is responsible for numerous stream set-ups in the AoC community. The guy who participated in AoCZone discussions with strong opinions and sophisticated humor (and admittedly lost his temper from time to time). The guy who worked in the background for many tournaments and 24/7ish during the Maldives finals (making it possible at all), laboriously collecting and ordering all the games of the finals to post them on AoCZone (as he told me, it was a mess like the whole event). The guy who streamed many of the matches no one else liked to, filling up the gaps of the tournament coverages. The guy who massively contributed to the AoC Knowledge Base. I could go on with anecdotes and details. But I think I made my point. I miss this guy.
2. Taff: Above I wrote about three major "losses". Besides taking me into the Voobly boat and being my mentor in many things, I most admire him for keeping his head up while it rains shite. He keeps on going. And that means many great things in AoC keep on going.
3. SMB360: I had my first interactions with him during the Nations Cup Wooden Spoon. He invested a lot in the UK B team and thus took a big part in bringing the Wooden Spoon to its success. He joined the Voobly Stream team and already made a remarkable numer of streams come true. He surely is a strong force in the team, taking initiatives in the stream coordination forum. Even more than robo and Genette did in the past, he helps me with the VooblyOfficial YouTube channel, basically the whole December coverage got forwarded and formatted by him. Last but not least, he kind of inherited Ashby's role as Polaris Challenge manager by introducing Call to Arms.
4. prv_limb: Probably most famous for managing the last predictions contests, keeping the legacy of CometNET alive. Behind the scenes, he does a lot of forum moderator work, takes care of the input for the stream coordination forum, and helps out with tournaments administrations. His way of proceeding is a delight, which I could experience first hand when he co-administrated Noobs of AoC 3 with me, another personal highlight of 2015.
And again I ask you: what were your AoCZone/AoC remarkable moments of 2015? What did I forget?
Last year, I listed all accounts that were created in 2014 and had more than 99 posts. Before I do the same for 2015, let's take a look back at 2014's list - did the acitivity last longer than one year?
- . SpcyBrnMrd - 43 posts in 2015, still mainly about ingame mechanics. Last post in October.
. Stifflersmumx - 219 post, but last post in July. Mostly participating in topics where streaming is involved somehow. Accordingly, he made a nice guide: OBS, Streaming, Twitch (Pimp Your AOC Stream Version 2).
. HighFlyer - 341 post, still playing a strong game on AoCZone, the acitivity slightly increased.
.(_blank) Bobomb - 12 posts. It pretty much became secured knowledge that this was ZeroEmpire's smurf account on AoCZone, so after he returned under his best known nick, the adventures of Bobomb came to an abrupt end.
. AoC_India - 174 posts. Ashby run a few WolfpacK clan tournaments and the Polaris Series with this account in 2015. WolfpacK doesn't seem to exist anymore (otherwise it would probably have participated in Clan Masters under this name). Equally Polaris ended in 2015.
. guitaritz - 272 posts. Tony/tehhunter is still streaming from time to time (personal channel and community ones). And his AoCZone activity still contributes to everyone who wants to improve is (huns arabia) gameplay. A shiny example: how to handle forwards.
. TheGovernor - 186 posts. His biggest contribution in 2015 was initiating Legacy of the Huns. Many of his posts come from administrating this tourney.
.(_blank) 2k+dotovic - 52 posts. Many of these posts are from Januar, he made little yet amusing comeback in July/August and disappeared again.
. Blotch - 966 posts. The number speaks for itself. Versatile and go-getting, he was a vital part of AoCZone 2105. He run the RM/DM Medley and Noobs of AoC 2 and participated in several noob events, even "earning" money.
.No Activity: Hi5er
I also made a list of notable mentions (>49 posts). Some of them need to be spotlighted now:
- . nimanoe - 595 posts since Januar 2014. He is kind of the AoC impersonation of Kappa. The LeO clan can't be thought of without him. Stream chats can't. And AoCZone can't.
. Man_ate_thee - 250 posts since February 2014. Well...
. Clemensor - 489 posts since June 2014. Not only active in participating in diverse tournaments and AoCZone discussions and commenting on posted games. He also was a valuable reinforcement for the Voobly stream team in 2015. Made a 24 hours stream between Christmas and New Year's Eve.
. ELQuark - 265 posts since June 2014. Many posts because playing in many tournaments and taking care of Germany B team in Nations Cup.
But now: who are the most "Submit" clicking newcomers of 2015? Ordered by account registration:
- 1st January: Gary Internet - 186 posts, 0.51/d, 25 topics. - He especially became active in the context of Master of Arena 3, outing himself as an Arena enthusiast.
- 22nd January: Yo_Dan - 212 posts, 0.61/d, 6 topics. - Probably most famous for being the creator of the map Houseboat, he created it for the SY Nations Cup II map contest. He also made an own map pack.
- 27th January: (czech) ChristheCo - 197, 0.58, 8. - Vitally involved in many aspects of the community.
3rd March: danh - no need to give numbers here, since this account is banned already and the posting lives on in many reincarnations and smurfs. He is probably the most infamous enfant terrible of AoCZone, no one else gets attention like this. - 14th March: AocTurkey - 127, 0.43, 51. - Similar case like the AoC_India account. Was created to administrate the War Of Aggression tournament and is shared by turkish players.
- 20th March: ZeroEmpires - 571, 1.98, 48. - His comeback seemed necessary in the context of The Empire Collective Cup ("TEC", high level 1v1 league, no working link atm) and the AoCZone became more friendly for him during 2015. He tried to bring fresh wind to the balance movement with his Balance Tweaker. AoCZone is a good resource for his various video projects and place to bring them to people.
- 21st March: rem_sjik - 135, 0.47, 10. - Another representative of the LeO clan and well known from livestreams. Calls himself "Taff's Boss" in his signature, using a Kappa as avatar.
- 24th March: Ultrafong - 199, 0.70, 10. - Kind of an ambassador of the Steam part of the AoC community. Most of his topics (and posts in it) are about Steam realeases.
- 26th March: livrodedaniel - 171, 0.60, 10. - Mainly posts in topics that are about brazilian top players (game posts, tournament discussions).
- 29th March: smarthy_ - 103, 0.37, 5. - Another stream chat active LeO member. She allegedly is MbL's AoC love (or other way around?) and gained AoCZone attention through the Nomad Bo5 against Blotch.
- 6th July: BMAPC187 - 399, 2.22, 10. - Probably Memb's biggest fan on AoCZone. One could get confused by reading through his history, since he originally named himself Halen. But that's his way: bringing people out of their comfort zone. He likes to copypaste long scientific texts into AoCZone.
Notable mentions: . Interdimension, (_blank) JCDenton, (_blank) bubblesort, The Taxman, (_blank) KGB_GT_SY (new account of jinxed11), SuperBua, LordFluff, Salva, Mahou, (_blank) neromelnick, HardstyleLJ, T90Official, (_blank) danh_, go_full_petard, Gracie, _rookstyle_

- The new school of AoCZone moderators: viewtopic.php?f=71&t=107279
One night, I asked the admins if I can help out with updating the streamers list since some people got forgotten. Suddenly I was a moderator. This initiated a wave where also Lavie_Head, robo, Influenza and Rgeadn became moderators. The latter two decided to resign from the role. Luckily, two new members joined the admin team through the standard recruitment process: InDuS_TauruS & prv_limb. One can still apply by the way! At this point I'd like to thank Andrew for being untiringly critical about actions of moderators and tournament admins. Some may not like him and I also got personally offended by him, but this doesn't detract from my belief that every community needs dissents, especially when power is unequally distributed. I leave it to everyone's personal judgment how much truth there is in this quote:
this site has a history of moderators who weren't exactly cut out for the job - Introduction of the Voobly AoC Knowledge Base: http://www.aoczone.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=104786
It probably doesn't get as much attention as expected, and isn't used as much. Much has to be done still to make it a comprehensive encyclopedia. But the effort already put in it definitely justifies highlight status.
. - Introduction of the Spectator Dashboard and Overlay: http://www.aoczone.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=110792
These two features by HappyLeaves and PkZ brought the AoC spectator and streaming experience a huge step forward. One cant imagine a stream without it already.
. - Introduction of Captains Mode: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=112492
(czech) pip brought up this great alternative when it comes to civ choices. He is also the creator of very smooth AoC statistics page. Together with robo he organizes mini-tournaments played with Captains Mode.
. - . Pike singing drunk: viewtopic.php?f=240&t=112245
First Pike was in the TS of MbL's livestream, but RFR_Salty muted him. Luckily, Gentle lived up to his name and gave the artist an asylum. This way one could watch how Gentle played a BF 1v1 with the singing of Pike as background sound (Pike selected different ballads from YouTube and sung to them). After Gentle went offline, Pike started his own stream and played some games.
. - . NilPferD streaming through all night at WSVG finals:
. - Just because it can't stay unmentioned: AoCZone's biggest off-topic discussion of 2015: http://www.aoczone.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=117255
(oomps didn't really start it, this topic is a split continuation of another one.)
