I'm aplying for a course at my university (Finite element based simulation model for Fluid Dynamics), there are limited sign ups so only the best (theorically) should get in.
Do you guys my presentation fits in?

Dear XX,
I am writing to apply to be a member of Finite element based simulation model for Fluid Dynamics course. I am a student on my 5th year of degree and mostly on the 4th course of it, expecting to graduate by the end of this semester either on July or September. I am confident that my abilities and interest on the matter would make me an ideal candidate for this course.
The reasons I am choosing this course is because it is centered on applying mathematical and programing based solutions to engineering problems. So far during my studies almost on every subject we find solutions to problems based on simplifications and not getting real results. On this past term I have been studying finite elements to resolve structural problems and they can approach solutions closer to the real ones and faster than handly. As well I am interested on participating on this course because we will be using ANSYS. So far my engineering programing experience has been reduced to MATLAB, I find it a useful tool that can reach solutions to problems while at the same time forces the users to think not only on the problem itself, also in the work of programming. Searching shortcut and ways to make my code cleaner have motivated me to spend hours enhancing my own programs.
I haven’t used ANSYS to this day, and from what I have heard and learn through internet it is a simulation software used purposely to solve engineering problems using finite elements. I believe the use of ANSYS will increase my overall skills concerning my career. Spreading to other fields should provide me a different set of problems that would force me to work out solutions in a different way. As a result I should learn in deep how to use different tools to solve any future numerical problem that I might encounter on my professional life.
The fact that this lessons would be under a limited number of students and on English would motivate me to strive more on them. During this grade on very few occasions I have been on a class with few numbers of students, but when I have I got the feeling that I have learned the lesson on a better way. At the same time I would be pleased to be under an English talking environment, I use the English language almost every day, sadly on very few occasions I got the chance to speak it, as I mostly use it reading or watching something through internet.
And finally, just to answer the questions listed, I started my studies on September 2013 after finishing my last year at school on May that year. I have passed XX to this day, all the first 3 years but a subject from the second quarter of the third course, the grades for this past subject haven’t been released to this day, my average grade is XX. About my English level, I tried the internal UPM TOEIC exams last November 2016, I surpassed it with an overall XX equivalent to a C1 grade, as well I prepared myself during the spring semester of 2017 to take the Cambridge English C1 exams on July, I passed them with an overall score of XX. During that same semester I took the EPAC lessons and passed them.
Sincerely,
XX
