Don't forget make blonde and red haired vils too.
You are one of the worst kind of people to come across on the internet, instead or arguing, you focus on spelling or try to show how superior you are ...I suggest you learn to read and write properly. It is an important skill.
No, my point is that skin/hair/etc. color is totally irrelevant. Is the argument really, that as long as there are no blond or fat vills (or whatever else you guys came up with), african civs should not have black vills?
I do understand that, but I also think it would be totally normal to have black vills for african civs ...No, my point is that skin/hair/etc. color is totally irrelevant.
It would be normal, but it's not an important problem which needs to be fixed ASAP. I think there is a visual mod which makes all vils' skin darker. Feel free to use it if you're bothered by white vils.I do understand that, but I also think it would be totally normal to have black vills for african civs ...
Yeah totally, I think for DE they should consider it and if they leave it the way it is, I would be fine with it as well.It would be normal, but it's not an important problem which needs to be fixed ASAP. In this case (if you have WK architecture) it only works for some civs, but not for all. If you have a civ with diffrent buildings short wall doesnt work and you get the standart big walls. This is probly the only bad Thing about WK architecture mod. Hope someone gonna fix it
I never said it was racist – that was you putting words in my mouth (again). All I pointed out was that black African civilizations aren't given appropriate skin tones in the game and that given there is a wider pattern of this kind of thing happening in society we should try to fix it. I specifically said that I don't want to debate racism – you're the one bringing it up over and over (and over). It is a fallacy to say there are forms of underrepresentation in the outside world which are racist, therefore this specific form of underrepresentation in the game is racist, as you have never demonstrated a connection between the two.
Ah yes, the old "it's impossible to care about two things at the same time" argument. Don't you know there are children starving?!? In Africa no less!?!?!African civilisations are among the very strongest in the game, yet you're not only fixating on a small minority of units not being quite dark enough, but you think it's racist too? The average gamer cares far more about how strong the civilisation is and how fun they are to play than they do about a few units' skin tone being slightly off. I don't believe the average African gamer is particularly different from the average Asian etc. gamer.
That's possibly the first reasonable thing you've said this entire time. On that note, peace out.Nobody actually morally opposes re-skinning units. What people are against is someone who doesn't know the practical difficulties of re-skinning coming in and insinuating that it's because of racism. Do you see why people might be less than charitable about her intentions?
Jesus, this topic is cancer. Inb4 someone claim knight in african civs is white privilege.
Now you know why Celts are my favorite civilization. ;Sneaky
I never said it was racist...peace out.

Cannot emphasize that enough.
I have always seen the generic color skin of the units as a neutral tone applying to all cultures and I think most units are also very generic (not euro-centric).
it actually already exist lolyellow skin like The Simpson then
So why is more detail bad -- because it's more work for developers? Give me a break, this is not exactly a "realistic" looking modern game as we see it nowadays. The additional -- huge -- difficulty of putting in a DIFFERENT SKIN TONE for units is clearly insurmountable.Wow I should have expected more streaming and popularity for the game would have drawn these kinds of people in eventually, but I never expected things this stupid would be brought up.
I don't think the sane arguments posted by other users will do any good, because the people calling for ''better representation'' want that in isolation of everything else; because apparently the blackness of Shotels affects how many black youths police shoot in real life. When you're starting from a flawed idea itself (here, the idea that in-game representations are causing real-life issues like racism) any arguments, sane or otherwise against the said proposition won't convince them.
As an aside, does OP and people who agree even play the game?
The idea is to be as accurate as reasonably possible while keeping the game fun.
So you want devs to spend their time on working on details which are
(1) Impossible to see at a resolution the game is played at (these days 1080p min). I even tried at 800x600 and you can't really see these details at that res unless you are particularly looking for it.
(2) Impossible to create actual representation of population. Why stop at black vils only.
(3) Completely irrelevant to game play
Are we really out of ideas in terms of how this game and multiplayer system can be improved. Develeopment time in any software project comes at a premium and should be spent wisely.
I see reasons for not changing knights, archers and so one, but I defenetly don't see any reason for not changing the vills.
