Aoc is differenced by stages, you can´t compare the playstyle used now with the one 10 years ago, I would definatelly put Halen, Koven and Grunt at the same scale as Daut and Chris, just because they were best during a long period of time.

Exactly what I had on my mind as well.. to me the koreans(SE Asians) dominate any online game there is today.. no reason why they will not dominate AOC if they want to.. after all they have all the skillsets(APM,Strategy, dedication).. daut and chris has done very well for themselves but their era of peaking is primarily when the south east asian players were out of contention..coz they decided to move to other games.. and aoc lost its charm..
If you rate a player on the basis of longevity and consistency daut and chris #1 and #2 period. If however the rating is based on gaming skills and ability my vote will be for halen, koven and grunt in that order..
thanks for the info prodigy i did not know a lot of what you said.. so chris was considered a top player and maybe so was daut but were they no # 1 till 2005? Pretty sure the number #1 title had to be amongst one of the asians.. my point is specifically that the skill set required to master the game is prevelant in korea more so than anywhere.. they got to be #1 in aoc if they want.. also since you been around in those days clarify one thing for me..
Does chris and daut have same micro/macro/speed/apm skillset as koven/grunt/halen. To be honest the one person I expect to really know this is kkab.. so depthbomb if you are reading this pls chip in
50k just from the Microsoft tournament for Grunt ._.

If you think of best regarding playstyle, the current 3 best players would definatelly beat the 3 best players of 10 years ago if it was played by current level against that level, but again, you cannot compare it.

That. Im not sure if asians are better for aoc, aoc is not all about skill like starcraft or other games. There had never being even a top 3 chinese player and they probably have more players than all other countries together (and they play much more games per day).grunt won the big 50k, was that vs kaohen?

1, it was kaohen who was runner up in the Microsoft tourney.
Prodigy is pretty much right about everything.
Chris was probably top 5 since 2002 at least, possibly even 2001. At the time of WCG 2002, he and Halen were far and away the best players in the world. Chris was too young to qualify for WCG though. At the time Daut was just a top BF player. Later on, he, Halen and Chris battled for the top spot, with a bit of competition from Yanzi, Grunt and the Chinese (Windy, Iori and BT4) at some point, but when they were active, Chris and Daut were always the two best imo. That didn't change until Viper came along.
Ha. Sadly nowadays you cant play a guy that you cant know how good he is. Myths cant excist because all is recorded.Koven was awesome though , i remember those days man, he was like a mystical character that you even wonder if he really even existed. There was just a certain aura surrounding that guy in the begging of aoc was awesome when i finally got to play games with him 11.
Many games were recorded, but it was optional, and they weren't uploaded to the zone instantly. It made it a lot harder to be a game poster back then (myself and Prodigy were two of the main gameposters on bskzone, which was pretty much the original aoczone). We had to trawl through every major clan's website every day looking for new recs, eventually I stumbled upon Canary and Kumruke's sites, and the Chinese aoc forums and we made them popular too. Besides that though, you had to just suck up to experts and hope that they'd let you watch a few games and post the recs, or they could send you a few recs every now and then.
