Actually it is simple as that. Nevertheless European languages has many borrowed words from Latin/Greek simply because their culture was much more advanced than rest of barbaricum.The greatest language of all time is Ancient Greek which is the mother of most languages spoken these days especially in europe.

It is not as simple as that. I think maybe it would be better to say it has a strong influence on many modern languages and at least in English that is true.

I'm really not happy with this list. It lists dialects / varieties as "languages" and is not consistent in its depth. As I said, German looks pretty comprehensive, while English is underrepresented.
Anyway, glad to see some more people are interested in languages around here
