I think free carto is fine to improve the communication at lower levels and help decrease the toxicity and rage there. Especially when there is one of those guys who never sends "X".

I don't like it at high level ranked tgs but tbh I can live with that. It's not a big deal.

Don't understand or don't want to understand? Dude's main idea is there are tons of micro/macro and overall tons of bonuses and things to learn, having easier time not being blind helps a bit especially for newer players who are not in voice with team mates. I think most people at this point agree that it doesn't change that much.

I would guess that you are one of those who dislike shift queue for example that after built house you can shift queue vill to go back to farm. That made game easier and smoother without having as high eAPM, so in a sense made game easier, although I think such change is good as makes game bit more about micro/macro. So of course you can agree or disagree with some changes, but whole idea is that one or two such changes doesn't make game suddenly easy or hard and some guys acting like game will change completely because of it.

it changes a lot on maps i prefer to play, nomad, a map that the devs already nearly ruined, lost almost all of its novelty with this change. But no i have no problem with shift queue, lol. Funny that you mention macro tho, as if macro hasn't been completely trivialized by MQ. It's like i said, with every patch the game gets more and more noobified. Soon they'll probably introduce auto-queue and the same names in this thread will say it's no big deal and doesn't change much anyways. I wouldn't say slippery slope is a fallacy when they've been moving in this noob-friendly direction for the last 5 years and counting.

The idea is to get the game more "casual" aka noob friendly to attract more and more new plajers who usually do not have time or will to tryhard and learn how to play.

There were complaints of noob-friendly when auto scout came out as well. It may still not be perfect, but its noob friendly and there is significant advantage controlling the scout. I think this should be the approach. This obviously doesn't apply in this particular update since there is no sacrifice for the gain.

Honestly they should add a tick for allied vision like they have for random civs. That ways in low level noob TGs people can choose to have shared vision, while higher elos can keep it random (and still force allied vision if all members on team check yes, which kinda sucks but thats the same problem with civ pickers)

It's amazing, at 1500 elo land nomad I can see my ally build their tc on an isolated gold pile because 'they don't need to build ships', have all three vils on one control group waypointing and then resign because they can't find anything. Or the one looking to find the perfect spot and settling at two mins. This was the privilege once held by the guy that was booming 'all for their team' or the guy that was dead but pretended to be still significant by watching all your moves instead

I think this update will benefit Khmer (at least in nomad maps) as an already strong civ when you don't need buildings to click up to the next age or build barracks before stable. Khmer player already advances to castle early, put stables, make knights. And now doesn't need to build a market (hence 175 more wood in bank for more farms) or allies to flare enemy locations to raid or go help them out.

On Voobly barring 2k+ TGs , allied vision mod was standard on BF, Arabia, Arena but not on Nomad. I think this worked very well

Allied vision is not enough. On behalf of the noob council, I demand Spies auto researched on reaching the imperial age.

the issue with allied vision is the one Raiden pointed out: it buffs the 4 player tryhard teamwall strategy on most open maps, which is pretty boring to play against and watch. Too bad pros don't play serious TG ever, so we'll have to endure some TG tournament (nations cup?) with teamwall every game before they realize it... Other than that it feels nice to be finally able to fight together with allies below 2k rating

I thought it would take some time to get used to, but after 5-10 ranked team games I don’t even think about it anymore. It is admittedly a little bit more annoying on Nomad starts, but once the TC is down it only adds benefits.

Whether you speal through the fog of war and flare, or have vision to actually see it, the team work and coordination is still the same.

As with autoscout, multi-queue, auto-farm reseed etc., this is another QoL change to the game which will benefit everyone to improve their gameplay.

I think the only sad thing about this, actually, is that the strategic advantage of picking Portuguese for this reason (though leading to an interesting change of unique tech) gets lost.

There is a really good strategy for Arabia kind of maps to do against it. Flanks go fast feudal archs while their pockets go scouts, I heard it’s really good vs teams who try to team wall early.

Actually, it is NOT shared exploration.
It is a shared view of all players in a team. To receive that, until now, a player need to spend 175 wood to build a MARKET. So, a player, with few resources, must CHOOSE what to build- Barrack, Archery Range, Stable, Blacksmith or Market.
Before 3-4 years, the players need to pay about 200 resources to research Cartography.
That Shared Exploration is good ONLY for some maps for NEW players- CBA, DEATH match.
For all other players, the game become more stupid, as if the players begin the game from Imperial age and use ONLY one military unit- Elephants.
There are billion of these stupid games.

While I do get the arguements against this change, I really do think that we have been tormenting ourself for far too long.

Most of the high level/top players that I spoke to is all for it, and so am I, being a tg only player who is always on voice.

No other game that I know of (like sc, or c&c, etc) has disabled allied vision and its usually been a bad thing in the past that games benefitted uppon changing. (Examples could be Rust when they added groups, or the early c&c games where u had to find ur allies base to add them as ally and see their vision).

Not everyone enjoys pointless torment that requires u to have no life outside of aoe like Influensa does, and not every1 is able to play as a team on voice everyday for 20 years to maximize their coordination potential by 5%.

Its a great change that makes the game more easily accessible/attractive to new players without sacrificing anything that shouldn't ever be a thing in the 1st place.

And it does make the game less hardcore. Which is okay. We dont wanna end up as a game that only has a 3 digit But super elite based playerbase anyway.

your low iq posts are really tiresome. Can you please explain why the player base might decrease by over 90% if we don't adopt changes like allied vision? why not just admit that you want the game to be as easy as possible so you can focus exclusively on build orders and archer micro
